Weekly School Newsletter

Mission:
United by faith and service,
St. Anthony of Padua School community forms knowledgeable students who are moral and courageous Catholic leaders.
On behalf of all of the St. Anthony staff, we wish you a VERY MERRY Christmas and a blessed New Year. As a reminder, school starts back on January 4, 2021. We look forward to a healthy and safe return to school for all of our students.

  • ELECTRONIC DEVICE AGREEMENTS: We are asking that all K-8 parents complete and sign an Electronic Device Agreement for their students. Even if parents do not plan on having their student(s) bring home the device for virtual/at home use, students are entrusted with an electronic device during the school day. In order to track these devices, as well as ensure proper care is given to them, we need these agreements completed. At this time every student in the building has been assigned a device. We anticipate being fully 1:1 by January 15. Kindergarten students have been assigned iPads, while 1st - 8th grade will have Chromebooks. Students may obtain an Electronic Device Agreement from their homeroom teacher.

COVID 19 INFORMATION

  • HEALTH DEPARTMENT TOOLKIT: The Health Department continues to update the School Toolkit. All parents are encouraged to review these updates here of (12/11/20).

  • IMPORTANT CHANGES IN QUARANTINE LENGTH: Based on findings from a recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) assessment indicating that 99% of COVID-19 infections occur within 10 days of exposure, the Kent County Health Department has made the decision to reduce the quarantine period for individuals exposed to a confirmed case to 10 days after exposure.
During the 10-day quarantine period, these individuals should monitor themselves for symptoms. If symptoms do not develop during the 10-day time period after the last exposure, their quarantine period can be completed after the 10 days. It is still recommended that these individuals continue to monitor their symptoms over the course of the next 4 days and adhere to using masks and social distancing when in the presence of others outside of their home during this time.
If an exposed individual develops symptoms consistent with COVID-19 at any time during the 14-day time period after exposure, they will be considered as a probable case of COVID-19 and testing would be recommended.
  • COVID 19 RELIEF PACKAGE: Please see this action from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops regarding an alert link to ensure Catholic schools are included in the new COVID-19 Relief package!

Holiday Helpings

The holiday season is a time filled with gatherings. Sometimes they include holiday dishes and treats. When deciding what and how much to eat, think “healthy” and be mindful of the portions (amounts of food) you enjoy. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when you make your way around to the many holiday festivities:
  • Keep it colorful - Try to fill your plate with fruits and vegetables instead of foods higher in fat such as fried food, creamy or cheesy casseroles and cookies.
  • Eat slowly and enjoy - By eating slower, you tend to eat less.
  • Think about beverages– Sugary drinks can add lots of calories to your day. Some people get more than half their calories from drinks. Add a lemon slice to ice water for a nice drink with no calories!
