Learning Objectives
As a result of participating in this activity, learners should be able to:
  • Summarize the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations for human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination.
  • Review Massachusetts HPV vaccination uptake.
  • Describe vaccination challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Discuss strategies to get HPV vaccination "back on track."

A maximum of 1.0 contact hours for these programs will be provided in accordance with the regulations governing continuing education requirements for the following Boards of Registration: 

Board of Registration in Nursing (CMR 244 5.00), Board of Registration of Social Workers (258CMR 31.00et seq), Board of Mental Health Professions (262CMR 7.00), Board of Certification of Health Officers (241CMR 4.03), Board of Registration of Sanitarians (255CMR 5.02).

Pharmacists may receive up to 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Creditâ„¢ in accordance with 247CMR 4.00.

*Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine: What Healthcare Professionals Need to Know
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has developed web-based, on-demand training modules outlining best practices and principles for healthcare professionals when preparing to administer COVID-19 vaccines.

The training module, "General Overview of Best Practices for Healthcare Professionals," is a high-level overview of the following topics with links to detailed information: vaccine development and safety, safety monitoring programs, Emergency Use Authorizations (EUAs), vaccine storage/handling, preparation, administration, PPE, scheduling, documentation, and reporting adverse events. Information on each vaccine product will be added as each is authorized by FDA. Click here to access this module.

The training module, "Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine: What Healthcare Providers Need to Know," will provide information to healthcare professionals about COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by Moderna, Inc., based on the recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and guidance from the manufacturer. The training module, "Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine: What Healthcare Professionals Need to Know," will provide information to healthcare professionals about COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, based on the recommendations of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and guidance from the manufacturer.
