Additional Information About Serra Reopening Plans
Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have been busy preparing for the return of our upperclassmen on Monday and have sent a lot of information. We are in the process of creating a Serra Reopening Webpage that will host all pertinent information for both hybrid and distance learners. This site will be live on the Serra homepage tomorrow. In the interim, here is a quick reference to the Friday communication and Monday communication sent to parents. We will send messages to freshmen and sophomore parents and students as the date of their in-person instruction nears.

Webinar
Tomorrow night at 7 p.m., Serra will host an information webinar for the parents of 11th- and 12th-grade students. The administrative team will give an overview of plans for returning to school, including expectations, safety protocols and the details of hybrid teaching and learning. The webinar link is (https://serrahs.zoom.us/j/99870766147).

Health Screening
Serra is using the online tool, Ruvna, to complete health screening for students before they arrive on campus. Parents and students will receive a text and an email on the morning that students are expected to be on campus from Ruvna. This message will include a link to a survey that must be completed before your student arrives at school. Once the survey is completed, students will receive an electronic “entrance ticket” on their smartphone that will be scanned by the supervisor at their campus entrance that morning. Accommodations will be made for students who do not have a phone or whose phone is not available when he arrives on campus. If your student arrives at school without having completed the pre-screening his temperature will be taken and the supervisor will ask him the screening questions below he is allowed to enter campus. Since this will delay his entrance into school and impact the entire program, it is important that all students comply with the Ruvna pre-screening requirement on a daily basis.

ThanksGIVEday is November 19

Our third annual ThanksGIVEday is coming up and this year, more than ever, we need your support. We are targeting our fundraising to fund critical technology upgrades necessary for our teachers to engage the students at the highest level.
Our focus at Serra High School continues to be providing a transformative experience that builds men of faith, virtue, leadership and philanthropy. Teaching our students the rewarding privilege of giving back is fundamental to their overall high school experience. As we have seen all too well in 2020, we need our future leaders to feel the responsibility to give to others in need.
ThanksGIVEday is an opportunity for the entire Serra community -- our students and our alumni -- to unite and show its support.
On our third ThanksGIVEday, we hope to have the support of our alumni to celebrate Serra and offer contributions to better our programs now and in the future. A Proud Past, Powering Our Future. Mark your calendars for November 19, our 24-hour day of giving, or plan to make a donation ahead of time to our ThanksGIVEday drive.
Raising Anti-Racist Kids:
Activating the Next Generation

Join Common Ground on November 10 at 4 p.m. for Raising Anti-Racist Kids with speakers Beverly Daniel Tatum and Allison Briscoe-Smith. Through generations of systemic racism, our nation has failed to protect and value Black children and families. Beyond learning about racism and the inequity that abounds in our communities, the issue of racial justice also requires action.

Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum and Dr. Allison Briscoe-Smith will focus on how we, as parents, can play an active role in building an anti-racist society and supporting a future where all children are valued. Parents will hear practical advice for talking about race and inspiring kids to fight for racial equity.

Admissions Season is Upon Us: Tell Your Friends About Our Virtual Admissions Events!

Serra admissions season is upon us! We encourage all of our current parents and students to help us get the word out about some of the virtual events created specifically for prospective families.

Families can register for these Serra events after creating a profile on the Ravenna Hub. This will allow prospective students and families to view Serra through the viewpoints of students, teachers, parents, coaches, and staff.

We hope to showcase why so many young men have chosen Serra for their high school education through our Wednesday Webinar series, our Padre for a Day program, Community Connections talk and Admissions Chat.
Kristallnacht Remembrance Scheduled for November 9
Serra students are invited to participate in the Kristallnacht Remembrance on November 9. Kristallnacht ,or the Night of Broken Glass, also called the November Pogrom, was a pogrom against Jews carried out by SA paramilitary forces and civilians throughout Nazi Germany on November 9, 1938.
The remembrance event is sponsored by the Frakas Center. More information can be found on the organization's website. This is a great way for students to kickstart the Social Justice Club, earn some service hours and learn about racial history.
