RESEARCH OPPORTUNITY
Piedmont Transplant Institute in Atlanta is seeking students interested in clinical research or scholarly projects in the area of hepatology and transplant services. Projects would likely include chart reviews, database creation, data review, and potential write-up of results and conclusions. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Video Games that Help Medical Professionals Learn... Seriously!
Level Ex is a Chicago-based studio that makes mobile games to help medical professionals improve their skills. They offer games in four specialty areas and recently updated two of its games, Pulm Ex (a pulmonology game) and Airway Ex (an anesthesia game), with content to help treat COVID-19 patients in emergency situations. Visit their website for more information or find the games in the App Store. Dr. House's personal favorite is Full Code Emergency Medicine.

Free IPPCR Course
The National Institutes of Health has developed the Introduction to the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research (IPPCR) course, a free online course which trains registrants on how to conduct clinical research effectively and safely. The course focuses on the spectrum of clinical research and the research process by highlighting biostatistical and epidemiologic methods, study design, protocol preparation, patient monitoring, quality assurance, ethical and legal issues, and much more. The course is free, self-paced and entirely online.

Zooming In Versus Flying Out: Virtual Residency Interviews in the Era of COVID
The benefits of in-person interviews for both applicants and programs are undisputed. With the persistence of COVID-19 in-person interactions have been replaced with virtual interviews, which can exacerbate an already anxious time. The Society for Academic Emergency Medicine has recently published an article that offers practical tips for this unusual recruitment season. Written by physicians at major university medical centers, the article compares the advantages and disadvantages of virtual interviews and highlights best practices.

It is time to sign your statement of responsibility. Just log into your MyMercer account and you should see your Student Statement of Responsibility. Sign it, take care of any holds that you notice, and you should be good to go until the next semester. Failure to do so places a hold on your account.
