From Mayor Leonard Desiderio...
I hope everyone had a very happy Passover and Easter! We were delighted to see so many people in Sea Isle City during Easter Weekend – which was a bit windy but very sunny and mild. In addition to enjoying the springtime weather conditions, many families also took advantage of last week’s special events, including the Recreation Office’s Easter Program on April 13 and the Tourism Office’s Spring Fling Family Fun Day on April 16. If the good times that were enjoyed here in Sea Isle City during Easter Week were any indication of what’s to come this summer, we can all expect the months ahead to be fantastic!

Regular Maintenance Ensures Reliability
During the months of April and May, the Sea Isle City Water Department will be flushing-out the water distribution system through the fire hydrants and exercise water valves throughout town. Semi-annual hydrant flushing is required to ensure that hydrants and the water distribution systems are functioning properly and can provide the proper drinking water quality (thus providing adequate water flow when needed). Nuns At The Beach
(Before 1962 and the Great Nor'easter)
They called them convents, retreat houses and religious vacation homes. Once, they could be seen up and down the beachfront in Sea Isle City, especially concentrated in the space of a dozen blocks south of downtown. The Clergy were here to relax and to enjoy the city’s amenities – just like any other tourists.
The religious orders represented reads like a litany:
Sisters of Mercy of Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Maryland; Sisters of Saint Joseph, Saint Dominic, and The Holy Child; Daughters of the Redeemer; Augustinian Fathers; and Oblate Fathers of Washington, DC. READ MORE

Please Be Aware of a Change to
Bulk Trash Collection Schedule
The Department of Public Works has made a slight change to its City-Wide Bulk Trash Collection Schedule. Starting this spring, the City-Wide Bulk Trash Collection Day will be the second Thursday of May (not the fourth Thursday of May, as was the case in past years). Therefore, this spring’s City-Wide Bulk Trash Collection Day will be Thursday, May 12.
There is also a change to the Weekly Bulk Trash Collection Schedule. Effective immediately, Weekly Bulk Trash Collections will take place through the month of April (not through May). Here is the weekly Bulk Trash Collection Schedule (October thru April):
- 1st to 44th Street = 1st Thursday of each month
- 45th to 70th Street = 2nd Thursday of the month
- 71st to 94th Street = 3rd Thursday of the month
- Brush = 4th Thursday of the month (all streets)
SPECIAL NOTE: Please throw-away the old “Mandatory Recycling Laws” magnets that you may have on your refrigerator.
