MARCH & APRIL 2020 NEWSLETTER - ISSUE NO: 109
Good Morning ,

As it's a Saturday we decided to send our March & April 2020 Newsletter a day early. After what seems to have been the wettest winter in history (UK), spring is just around the corner and both Sue and I cannot wait for the weather to improve and get back out in our little Belle again!

And what a season of events we have lined up too, with a record breaking 40 listed on our events calendar. In this edition we cover in detail a couple next month including what will be our 10th visit to the London Ace Cafe and first visit to the Caffeine & Machine. Both these meets are a much needed opportunity to catch up with figgy friends and share the love for your Figgy.

If like me you've only ever read about the Figaro Lottery which occurred back in 1991 when the car was launched and started to wonder if it ever actually ever took place or was just part of figgy folklore, then we have welcome proof from Chris Marien. For members who like to show their car and enjoy talking about the history you can also download and print copies of the actual winning ticket.

As a club we never like to report thefts but last month they seem to be on the increase yet again. So we decided to revisit the Security issue and urge you to spend a few minutes reviewing your security. Remember the car has frameless windows and a vinyl roof so is very easy to enter! Make sure your car had an Immobiliser fitted as a bare minimum.

For those of you looking to squeeze every last drop of power from our little engines we have an article on how to De-cat your engine by William Mendez. There is lots more info on our forum and help if you need it.

We've also squeezed in a Boot Rack Review which takes a close look at the most popular accessory for your Figgy and peak at some of our members cars too.

Lastly, a heart-warming story from Dirk Parker on how he kept secret a Figaro restoration and gave it to his daughter for Christmas.

Enjoy...

  NEWS HEADLINES
Figaro featured on front cover of Classics

We mentioned Editor Simon Goldsworthy request for help in our last Newsletter and delighted to hear that our very own
Simon Smith got involved and is helping. Simon Goldsworthy waited nearly 30 years to get his Figaro which he picked up for just over 3K . The article covers PART ONE of a series over 5 pages and well worth a read and possible 'keepsake' so why not pop down to your local newsagents and pick up your copy!

CAN YOU HELP?
Simon is still looking for the last owner of REG J746 YSC so if you know who that may be please get in touch.
New - Chrome Strip Seal Replacement

The Figaro Shop have launched a new product to solve the common cracked seals/gaskets either side of the chrome strips that run the length of the Figaro. The self adhesive seal profile will finish the stainless steel trims back to their former glory. There are two kits available

Rubber Seal Profile Lower - £62.50
This kit will include 7m of the seal profile allowing to replace both sides of the vehicle
  • lower trim of the door x 2
  • lower trim of the rear 1/4 panel x 2
Rubber Seal Profile Upper - £124.99
This kit will include 14m of the seal profile allowing to replace both sides of the vehicle
  • Upper trim on the front wing/fender x 2
  • Upper trim of the door x 2
  • Upper trim on the rear 1/4 panel down to the rear lamps x 2
This is a much more expensive solution than the lower cost (£20) of 'filling the gap's using masking tape and applying Tiger Seal. However, although this does look good when first applied, over time it shrinks and starts to break away meaning a re-application is required. If you are looking to replicate the original look and wanting the ultimate finish and have a number of areas that require repair it may be worth the investment. Read more
Figaro Mud Flaps Price Reduction

We are delighted to announce that mud flap experts Performance Creations have reduced their prices for 2020. A set of the popular 4mm PVC Figaro Mud Flaps is now £64.95 (£58.45 with your club 10% club discount).

Not only do the flaps look great on the car they also help protect stone chips and avoid expensive re-sprays.

Add a garage and together lets create a Nissan Figaro support network!

As the car gets older, the need to find local support and people you can trust with your Figaro has never been more important. If you know someone and they've done a great job why not get them listed in our worldwide garage directory. The cost is FREE and you can add them yourself or send them the link to our online form. How to find the original body, trim and cabin colour?

As the Figaro was manufactured in 1991 it's possible the car may have been repainted or the trim changed. We recently carried out a valuation on an Emerald Green Figaro which had been painted pink but was originally manufactured in Lapis Grey! You can establish the month of manufacture, body/trim and cabin colour within a few clicks.

Sue and I love our 'Belle' :)
Lastly, a great big Figgy Welcome!

To all our new members. Please remember Sue and I are super friendly so get in touch if you have a Figgy story or picture to share.

Catch you in a couple of months :)

Our son Daniel back in June 2008
How the club started
Our son Daniel had always wanted a Nissan Figaro having seen the car at our local garage when he was just 16! We confess we had no idea what a Figaro was? A few years passed and after saving for a number of years (plus a small contribution from his mum and dad) he brought an Emerald Green model in June 2008 and named it 'Figgy'.

Following the purchase we searched the internet for an 'owners club' in the hope that he could attend events but were amazed that none existed at the time.
And so the Figaro Owners Club was born! Initially we created a basic website and forum and on the 1st March 2009 pressed the 'publish button' and waited to see if anyone wanted to join. Within a week we had 10 members, a month 35 and a year 478 members. That was all we needed to confirm that there was clearly a need for such a club.
Today the club has around 1,200 members worldwide in countries including
New Zealand, Japan, Australia, USA, Canada, Germany, Spain, France,
Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden and many more.
We are grateful to you and all our other members for help and encouragement throughout our journey as the club has grown into a passion which has taken over our lives.
Warmest Regards
