Virtual Meet the Teacher Nights:
Meet the Teacher for Grades 1-6 on Aug 26 will be virtual again this year. 

Teachers will be sending out videos to parents with important information about their class expectations instead of delivering an in-person presentation.

Please check your email tomorrow!

Jr. High videos were emailed last week from Mr. Hughes.

What do I do if my child is sick?
  • Please keep children home from school if they are exhibiting any symptoms of illness
  • We understand that allergies, colds and other illnesses still occur.
  • Follow your healthcare providers advice regarding whether or not COVID testing is warranted.
  • We ask that all children in your family remain home if any member of your family is being tested for COVID.

What about homework?
  • Homework may only be requested on day 2 of an absence.
  • Grades K-6: Email your child's teacher by 9am on day 2 to request homework. Click here for teacher directory.
  • Assignments & books may be picked up from the homework shelf in the atrium after 3pm.
  • Atrium doors are unlocked M-F 7:15am - 4pm.
  • Jr. High (Grades 7 & 8): Have your child check Google Classroom. Parents/siblings may come anytime during the day to get items from the locker.

When checking Google Classroom, please keep in mind that the teachers may not have time to post assignments until the end of the day.
PTO NEWS
The goal of the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is to focus on encouraging and supporting our parents, teachers, and students. Strong volunteer efforts and dedication by our teachers help us offer a wide variety of academic and extracurricular activities throughout the school year. Working together, we can make a difference at our school! PTO FUNDS IN ACTION:
This summer and in August, the PTO provided teachers with many needed classroom supplies and enhancements. August highlights included a drafting cabinet and artwork pin boards for Mrs. Hinshaw’s art room and modular seating for Mrs. Pike’s Kindergarten Classroom.

Happy 65th Birthday to OLMC! On Friday September 3, 2021 we will be celebrating our school's 65th birthday with cupcakes! An alternative treat will be provided if your child has a food allergy. Nurse Wignot will email you, if your child has a food allergy.

SISTERS’ PANTRY SHOWER!
From Wednesday, August 25 through Wednesday, September 1, we will sponsor the annual “Sisters’ Pantry Shower” to benefit our own Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia.

Since school Orientation and Back to School Nights will be virtual, we will have labeled bins set out in the Atrium to collect donations. Your child may bring in your family’s donation at morning carpool time or you may drop off your donation on your way to morning or afternoon carpool.
 
If you would like to make a monetary donation, please send a check in with your child or drop off at the school office. Check should be made payable to OLMC Scrip and placed in an envelop addressed to: C/O Stephanie Lesher/SCRIP. The SCRIP team will use these monetary donations to purchase SCRIP cards of the Sisters' choice.

*A-G… please bring dishwasher powder, toothpaste, toilet paper (septic safe), Oxi-clean powder, healthy cereals, protein bars, or Olive Oil
*H-N… please bring HE laundry detergent, Clorox wipes, Swiffer dry cloth floor refills, coffee, almonds, pecans, canned tuna, or Real mayonnaise

*O-S… please bring HE laundry detergent, tissues, toilet paper (septic safe), olive oil, pasta sauce (26 oz), aluminum foil or dishwashing liquid

*T-Z… please bring soap bars (Dove), liquid hand soap refill, sandwich or quart size Ziploc bags, canned tomatoes (whole, diced, sauce, paste), peanut butter, ketchup, or granola bars

Used Uniforms:
Hello Raider Parents!
First, a huge THANK YOU to Jessica Niccum and Haley Church for their many years of service with Used Uniforms!
Second, here are a few guidelines for the 2021-2022 school year:
DONATIONS:
Please be sure to launder and mend any items you are planning on donating.
If clothing has stains or tears, we cannot accept them.
Also, we are unable to accept shoes.
REQUESTS:
If you have a request for an item, please put your request in to us by the 15th of each month, and we will fill requests the following week.

Band & Choir Notes:
Mrs. Richardt & Mrs. Stachowiak have been working hard to get Band & Choir started again this year!

CHOIR:
5th/6th and Jr. High Choir will meet Wednesdays during reces
4th Grade Choir will meet Fridays from 2:15-2:45pm
3rd Grade Choir will meet Mondays during recess

BAND:
4th Grade Band will meet twice each week:
Tuesday morning 7:30-7:55 am with Mrs. Richardt
Thursday afternoon 3:05-3:40 PM with Mrs. Stachowiak

5th and 6th Grade band will meet twice each week:
Tuesday and Thursday morning 11:05-11:25

The Jr. High Band will meet:
Tuesday morning 11:25-11:55 (this time will change 2nd quarter)
Wednesday afternoon 3:05-3:40

It’s Time for Movie Night - Grades K-2!!
Friday Sept 10 from 5:15 - 7:30PM Parish Hall 

Welcoming kiddos in grades K-2 for a fun evening of friends, food and fun! 
 
The Movie will be Shaun the Sheep - Farmageddon

Cost: $6 pre-registered / $8 walk-ins (per child)
What's Included: Pizza, popcorn, candy, snack and a drink. Please send payment into the school office (checks payable to OLMC PTO or exact cash only).

Don't forget your comfy clothes or PJs, sleeping bag or blanket and pillow!!

**Extra precautions to stay healthy and safe will be in place for the evening. If conditions change the evening may be cancelled.**
Lost & Found:
The Lost & Found table is located in the Parish Hall inside to the left. Let your children know they can check this table if they are missing any items.

Parents are welcome to come check the table also during the hours of 7:15am - 4pm M-F.

Smaller items like jewelry, glasses, etc are kept in the school office. We currently have a pair of earpods that were found in the parking lot last week.

We do look for labels so help us help you by putting your name on your child's items. The Lands' End items have a handy label just for this purpose!
New Altar Server Training:
Altar server training registration is now open for children in 5th thru 12th grade. Training consists of two meetings, servers must attend one meeting from BOTH sessions.

Session 1: Liturgy of the Word Training (Must register for one)
Monday, September 13, 6-7:30PM
Tuesday, September 14, 6-7:30PM

Session 2: Liturgy of the Eucharist Training (Must register for one)
Monday, September 20, 6-7:30PM
Tuesday, September 21, 6-7:30PM

Existing altar servers may attend as refresher training as needed.

Please consider signing up to donate at the upcoming OLMC blood drive. Parents of kids who attend OLMC School and donate at the event will qualify their child(ren) for an Out of Uniform Day at school on Sep 9.

Meals for the Sisters:
We are blessed in many ways by our Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia. They do so much for our school children and families and we would like to show our appreciation and thankfulness to the Sisters by providing a weekly meal for them. Please consider signing up (SEE INFO BELOW) to bring the Sisters a meal on a Wednesday during this school year.

There are 6 Sisters residing at the convent and ONE OF THE SISTERS HAS A DAIRY SENSITIVITY. Milk may be cooked or baked into the food but please leave any cheese off or place in a separate container to be added later by the other Sisters. Please deliver the meal to the convent between 4:30-4:45pm.

OLMC currently provides several different Robotics programs that meet after school, evenings and weekends.

These programs create opportunities for students to develop problem-solving, leadership and team work skills while engaging with technology (sensors, motors, gears, programming...)
 
We're currently gauging interest in VEX and, FLL and FLL Jr. teams. 
FLL teams for next year are forming now to prepare for next year's season and competitions, so please respond just to let us know that you’re interested before September 4th.
