In the coming weeks Robert Burns, Scotland's National Bard, will be celebrated at Burns Suppers and with musical tributes throughout the world.  

ASF's Robert Burns Celebration will begin on Friday January 17th 12.30pm

as we celebrate the visit of the  Gregg Violin to NYC with a visit to the

Robert Burns Statue, Literary Walk,  Central Park.

Weather permitting a short interlude with music will take place (must be above 45 degrees). 

Robert Burns's dance master, William Gregg, played the fiddle as he taught Robert Burns dance steps. Burns, a keen and capable fiddler himself, likely played Gregg's instrument. 

Later on the 17th, at the  ASF 25th Annual Burns Night Celebration  the Gregg Violin will be part of the Burns musical tribute. 

The Burns Supper celebrates, in words and music, the immortal memory of Robert Burns and Scotland's heritage. 

Our musical program will be led by the award winning young Scottish team of Claire McKenzie and Scott Gilmour of Noisemaker.

We are also very honored that the historic Gregg Violin  will be a part of the program, being played during the  evening.

240 years ago Robert Burns's dancing master, William Gregg, played the fiddle as he taught Robert Burns dance steps. Burns was a keen and capable fiddler himself, so it is likely that he also played Gregg's  instrument. 

We are grateful to the National Trust for Scotland and the Scottish Government for arranging that the Gregg Violin is a part of our 2020 Burns Night Celebration.

With Glen Dronach Distillery offering the whisky tasting, a silent  auction, address to the Haggis from Robbie Munro,  music from Noisemaker - and concluding with "enthusiastic"  reeling .. we feel sure it will be a wonderful evening.  Limited tickets available.
