CA Relief Grant -
Round 2 Application Begins February 2nd
"California’s Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA), part of the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), announced that Round 1 for the Small Business 'COVID-19 Relief Grant' Program has closed

With more than 300,000 applications successfully completed, application approval notifications will be sent out Friday, January 15 through Friday, January 22. Funds will be disbursed over a 45-day verification period beginning Friday, January 22.

A second round of applications will open at 8 am February 2 and will run through 6 pm February 8.

Applicants who submitted all necessary documents in the first round and met eligibility requirements, but did not receive a grant, do not need to reapply; their applications will be rolled over for consideration in the second round."

Webinar on Paycheck Protection Program 2.0: Eligibility & Application
The long-awaited Paycheck Protection Program 2.0 launched on January 11th! And, just like with the PPP in 2020, borrowers will work through a lending partner (bank or financial institution) approved by the Small Business Administration.

This time, borrowers are divided into two groups: First Draw (for individuals and organizations that did NOT apply for/receive PPP round 1) and Second Draw (for individuals and organizations that received PPP round 1). Organizational eligibility, use of funds, and timelines will all be covered in this webinar.

We are delighted to welcome SBA San Francisco District Director Julie Clowes back to help us understand the PPP Round 2 with the same level of knowledge, patience, and non-jargon English as she provided nonprofits through the 2020 PPP.

The California Art Quilt: From the Summer of Love to the New Millennium
Learn about the cultural forces that led to the emergence of art quilts and the California artists who were among the first to embrace the medium as their primary means of expression.

In the last decades of the 20th century, California quilt makers charted new territory in quilt making, leading the nation in creativity and innovation. During the 1970s and 1980s, California artists were among the first to embrace the quilt medium as their primary means of expression. More traditional quilt makers also expanded horizons and even pushed the boundaries of what could be called a quilt.

Nancy Bavor, the executive director of the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles, presents an illustrated talk on the cultural forces that led to the emergence of art quilts, highlighting some pioneering California artists who blazed the trail for contemporary quiltmakers.
