DISCUSSION OF JANUARY MEETING
:
The deputy from Councilman Mike Bonin’s office, addressing the homeless problem in Los Angeles, was very knowledgeable and connected with the audience very well.
INTEREST GROUPS:
Bernie Schiffer's Current Events group will be merging with the Los Angeles/West Hollywood group that meets at Louis Bernstein’s residence on Doheny Drive on the 3
rd
Tuesday of each month. The Chess Group has 3 current members, the Poker Group has 3-4 members, and 3 members are in the Walking Group. The Sports Interest Group had 13 men watch the LSU-Clemson college football championship game at Jerry Weinstein’s home.
All Interest Group leaders should send e-mails to their members to announce their meetings/activities.
PUBLICITY:
Since Al Wilner left the Steering Committee, the group needs a leader to contact the local community newspapers to announce our meetings and future speakers. In addition to Allen Kwawer’s excellent monthly website, we also need e-mails to announce meetings, speakers and trips. Stan Weinberg’s 9-member Telephone Committee also needs to inform its recipients of speakers and trips.
MEMBERSHIP IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE:
A first meeting will be scheduled this month.
ADJOURNMENT:
The meeting was adjourned at 10:50 am.
