Dear Lakehill Families,

Lakehill Preparatory School is committed to keeping our families informed as we respond to the presence of Coronavirus (COVID-19). We continue to work in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO), and remain in constant communication with our partners at UT Southwestern Medical Center, the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), and the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS).

As of March 16, Lakehill will extend our school closure through March 27, 2020. All events, athletics, field trips, after school programs, meetings and gatherings on the Lakehill campus are cancelled until further notice. There will be no athletic or performing arts practices, games, or events during this period. The Upper School play will be rescheduled once we return to school. All TAPPS events have been cancelled through April 12. The March 30 Robotics competition has been postponed until further notice. Our priority is protecting the health and safety of everyone in our school community.

Our faculty met for training on March 13, and we are prepared to begin our distance learning program while students are away from the classroom. The Lower School and Middle School will be using IXL.com. The Upper School will be using various platforms including IXL.com, Google Classroom, and VHL.

Lower School parents will receive an email on Sunday evening, March 22, with user names, passwords, and information regarding the lessons for the week. The recommended lessons will be enrichment exercises to reinforce concepts. They will not be used to introduce new material. The website is simple and easy to navigate. Should your child provide an incorrect response, the website provides a review of the concept. Please encourage your child to complete the recommended lessons at his or her own pace over the week. Students are welcome, and encouraged, to explore any other lessons they think might be interesting. Any lesson completed will be beneficial.

Upper School parents and students will receive an email Sunday evening, March 22, with information regarding the assignments for the week. The information will also be included under Lesson Plans on Renweb.

Thank you again for your understanding and support. We are grateful that our community does whatever it takes to keep our children safe. We will continue to update you directly by email as new information becomes available, or if extended closure is deemed necessary.

Lakehill has created a dedicated Coronavirus Webpage to keep our community informed of how we are responding to the virus.

Sincerely,
Perry Signature
