Governor's Proposed PIT Increase, Minimum Wage Hike a Hit to Small Businesses Gene Barr, President and CEO
As the Wolf administration and General Assembly begin the months-long process of negotiating a budget for the 2021-22 fiscal year, the PA Chamber is advocating for pro-growth policies that will help the Commonwealth's economy recover from the COVID-19 pandemic stronger than ever. Unfortunately, many of the components of the proposal Gov. Tom Wolf unveiled early this month would put further burdens on business owners via higher taxes and cost increases - making the state less competitive and slowing our economic recovery.

Grow PA: Continuing the Conversation
Grow PA recently held two gatherings to hear about regional issues of concern around economic growth and to discuss solutions to barriers to growth. On January 14, leaders from the Venango County Chamber of Commerce hosted a timely discussion around regional and statewide strategies for expanding broadband access. On January 26, leaders from the Greater Scranton, Wyoming County, and Greater Wyoming Valley Chambers of Commerce hosted their own gathering of over 100 business, academic, and civic leaders to examine the role of private enterprise and higher education in preparing our workforce for the jobs of tomorrow. The Foundation for Free Enterprise Education is gearing up for what promises to be another exciting summer of Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week, and we would like to thank all our wonderful PACP partners who help us spread the word about all of the Foundation's programming to their members.

African American Chamber of Western PA
The Chamber hosted a virtual Power Breakfast on February 19th featuring Kelly Hunt, District Director of the SBA. Several Chamber members were on the webinar, and Ms. Hunt was very informative and helpful in her presentation. Our next Power Breakfast will be March 19th, featuring Lisa Scales, CEO of the Pittsburgh Food Bank.
Please "Save the Date" for the Chamber's 4th Annual Golf Clinic scheduled for July 30. This clinic is for golfers and non-golfers, and the emphasis is on relationships developed while playing golf. This year's theme is Golf Brings Us Together.

Greater Pittston Chamber
The Chamber will host its 100th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, April 17. T he Roaring 20s themed event will take place at the airplane hangar of Aviation Technologies at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport. The event, sponsored by Discover NEPA, will highlight not only our history, but also that of the countless businesses, volunteers and organizations that have supported us throughout our 100-years of service.

After nearly nine years, Dave Fairman's tenure with the Chamber has come to an end. He most recently served as the Chamber's Director of Membership and Interim President.

Indian Valley Chamber
The Chamber was saddened to announce that former Executive Director Sharon Minninger recently passed away. She was our 2007 PACP Keystone Award winner and a member of the PACP Board of Directors from 2011-2015.

Kelley Keane's last day at the PT Chamber was Thursday, February 25th. Kelley has made a tremendous impact on our organization and we wish her well on her next adventure. Chad Amond was recently honored for his decade-long run as the head of the Chamber.
