Spring birding with kids.
|
|
Spring migrations are a great time to hit the trails and do some birding. Different ways to engage young kids in birding: start with a book read aloud, bring along some binoculars, and stickers!
1) Choose a place to go birding, great GWRLT preserves to bird at:
2) Begin your birding adventure with one of these great childrens books:
4) Record what you find: depending on the age of your birders, stickers and drawing can be a great way to engage them. Bring a pad of paper, some crayons, and bird stickers. For every bird found add a sticker. Take some time to do some observation drawing as well.
Remember its all about keeping the experience positive, if birding only last 5 minutes, it's a win!
