Save the Date: February 12 for "Westchase Today & Tomorrow"
Some of the top names in commercial real estate will headline Westchase District's "Westchase Today & Tomorrow" event.
Philip Schneidau (Woodbranch Management), Michelle Wogan (Transwestern), Stacy Hunt (Greystar), Swapnil Agarwal (Nitya Capital) and Kelly Hall (Harvey Builders) will participate in panel discussions concerning their respective sectors in Westchase District's real estate market.
Phillips 66 CEO Greg Garland will offer a keynote address and Westchase District staff will also present updates on the various projects underway in the area, including the reconstruction of Walnut Bend Lane, improvements to Westheimer Road and two parks that are currently under development.

Property Owners Will See Lower Taxes in 2020
Check your tax bill for 2020 and you may be in for a pleasant surprise.
Westchase District property owners will see measurable reductions in their 2020 taxes, thanks to lower rates being established by local taxing authorities. Property owners in Alief ISD will see their taxes drop from $2.74/$100 valuation to $2.61/$100 valuation.
Property owners in
Houston ISD will see their taxes
drop from $2.62/$100 valuation to $2.51/$100 valuation.
Those figures also include rate reductions by the City of Houston and Harris County. That means the owner of a $1- million property in Westchase District will see their overall tax bill decline (assuming the property assessment is unchanged) by $1090.19 if they're in HISD and $1249.19 if their property is in AISD.
The lower tax rates are a result of changes made during the 2019 session of the Texas Legislature. House Bill 3 increased the state's share of education funding by raising the basic allotment per student by more than $1000 and increasing funding for certain student populations (e.g. dyslexia, dual language.) Additionally HB 3 compressed property tax rates by 7 percent, allowing districts to retain more money and pay less to the state through recapture.

Chester Jacinto joins the staff of Westchase District as our new Communications Director. He has worked in communications and public relations throughout his professional career, including marketing communications for higher education, healthcare and biotech, large nonprofits, small to large business enterprises, as well as international and specialty PR firms. Most recently, he served as Communications Specialist for Houston Hospice.

Westchase Today. He'll help keep our websites up-to-date, engage with commercial real estate brokers, promote the Westchase District Farmers Market and contribute to our ad campaign strategies.

Business Leaders Analyze 2020 at
"West Houston Outlook"
This event is designed to help large and small business owners prepare for the coming year. With a combination of insight from one of the top economists in the area and a panel of key executives from the most important business segments, owners, managers and executives will be up to date on economic trends affecting 2020
Guests will experience four morning business forums focusing on healthcare, technology, finance and marketing. Immediately following the forums, lunch will be served featuring a keynote address by Jesse Thompson, senior business economist at the Houston Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. But wait there's more! After his remarks, Thompson will be joined by a panel of experts who will address specific economic sectors and their outlook in 2020.
