In recognition of the unique challenges and opportunities associated with the upcoming summer months, the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands (CFVI) is pleased to offer grants to support summer programming serving children and older youth.
While virtual, in-person, and hybrid programming will be considered, our hope is that funding availability will encourage summer programs and camps to find safe ways to serve children in a full-day in-person format, as this has not been a possibility for many children over the past year. Priority will be given to applicants who demonstrate the ability to serve children of lower-income families, essential workers, and other families experiencing COVID-related challenges.
Eligible entities include:
- Nonprofit organizations with 501(c)(3) status; local nonprofit organizations with registered and good standing status through the Lt. Governor’s Office; churches and houses of worship; and local government agencies
- For-profit entities operating programs/camps are eligible to apply for scholarship assistance for students with financial need
- Applicants must demonstrate understanding and willingness to follow local and national safety and sanitation protocols
- Applications from organizations with reports past-due to CFVI will not be considered.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and decisions will be communicated to applicants as quickly as possible, based on review and availability of funding. We are aware of planning timelines that include April as a target to secure funding. We will be working diligently to align our decisions and/or updates with this timeframe.
Organizations may apply for funding to support operational costs and/or costs associated with providing scholarships for students.
Examples of acceptable grant fund use include (but are not limited to):
- Scholarships/fee waivers for children/youth in families with financial need
- Payment of rental or related fees for use of facilities and/or support for overhead costs, such as rent and utilities
- Fees/salary support for personnel
- Food and drink for participants
- Purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE) for staff/participants of programs that will be meeting with youth in-person
- Purchase of equipment/technology to facilitate enrichment experiences
In addition to this grant opportunity, CFVI is also pleased to offer a publicly accessible Community Exchange by which programs can list in-kind, collaboration, and volunteer needs/opportunities. Responses to the online form will be made available via a public online spreadsheet and circulated throughout the community. Access the form here:
