Dear Friends:

We are monitoring reports about the arrival of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in our area and preparing for the possibility that it will spread. We are concerned for your health and well-being and we are considering how the virus may impact our congregation and its programs. We urge all our community members to adopt the preventive measures suggested by the CDC including:
  • Stay home if you don't feel well. You can live stream our services (or watch archived services at your convenience).
  • Limit physical greetings such as hugs, kisses and handshakes.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water or an effective hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Seek medical attention if you have reason to believe you have been exposed to coronavirus or influenza. Call your healthcare provider before visiting a healthcare facility.
  • To those traveling in the coming weeks, please be mindful of the status of the locations where you travel and their implication for quarantine or medical evaluation. See more at the CDC's website for travelers.
What you should know about the temple's preparedness:
  • At this time, all services, classes and programs are being held as scheduled.
  • We will follow the Massachusetts Department of Health regarding closures, quarantines, and canceling any temple events, schools, or services.
  • We have increased our stock of hand sanitizer, soap and other supplies and our staff are training and implementing best practices for safe temple operations.
  • We have consulted with medical professionals in the community regarding best practices and in the event of any changes in program, we will communicate via e-mail with our congregants as well as all of our Religious School and Preschool families.
This week we are celebrating Purim. Our Sunday Purim Carnival was a great success, and we will continue the celebration through the week with our Religious School and Preschool classes, as well as a special "Updated Megillah" at our regular Friday night service (March 13th, 6:30 pm). At this time our Brotherhood Comedy Night scheduled for Saturday night will go on as planned. If there are any changes, we will let you know.

Thank you for joining us in taking these preparations seriously and for your consideration of all the community's members. Our work together will ensure the health and safety required to bring Purim joy and light to the world in the weeks ahead and all year long.

Thank you,
Rabbi Robert S. Goldstein
