From the Rector

Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Mary's,

This Sunday please join us for the Annual Parish Meeting. We will have one service beginning at 9:00 a.m.  Following the service we will have our potluck parish brunch and our meeting in the Great Hall. We will be celebrating the ministries of the past year, reviewing our 2020 budget, and electing new vestry members, as well as delegates and alternate delegates to Diocesan Convention. If you are new to the parish this is a good opportunity to find out more about St. Mary's so please join us. All are welcome.

Thank you to all of the volunteers who made last Saturday's meal program successful.   Despite the icy weather we served 66 meals. Thank you Tom Koegel for another great meal!

The flower signup sheet for 2020 is at the back of the church. Please consider signing up to donate money for flowers. You may indicate if you would like to donate altar flowers in honor or memory of someone and we will put their name(s) in the bulletin. The flowers go on our altar shelves each week for our Sunday worship service.

See you all on Sunday,
Fran+

Annual Parish Meeting and Brunch

A reminder that there is only ONE Eucharist beginning at 9:00 a.m. , followed by a wonderful pot-luck brunch, and then the Annual Parish Meeting, beginning at approximately 10:45 a.m.   ALL ARE WELCOME to join us for brunch, even if you did not sign up to bring a dish to share.  Please join us for this important event in the life of our parish.

2020 Offering Envelopes

If you didn't receive a box of offering envelopes for 2020 and would like one, please contact Amy in the parish office.

2020 Flower Chart

The 2020 Flower Chart is now posted. Members are encouraged to select a Sunday closest to a significant date in one's life, i.e. the anniversary of the death of a loved one or friend, a birthday or wedding anniversary, or perhaps on the occasion of blessings received, and underwrite that Sunday's flowers.    Donation amount is $30.

February Community Meal

Mark your calendars for  Saturday, February 15 5:00-7:00 p.m. for our next Community Meal .    This month we began our fourth year of offering a free meal on the third Saturday of every month! This is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people, share a night out with friends, or just stop in if you've had a busy day and don't feel like cooking. Let us do the work!! Remember, this meal is open to anyone, and no RSVP is required. Bring your family and friends! There is no  charge for the meal, but free-will donations are appreciated.

There are post cards available on a Narthex table with all the dates for 2020. The menu is posted on our website a week or two prior to the meal.   If you'd like to volunteer to help, please contact Tracy Higgins.

Crystal Lake Food Pantry

Volunteers: The next food pantry volunteer opportunity is Wednesday, February 5 .   Shift times are 8:30-11:30 a.m., or 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Contact Cate Williams.
Paper Please: Donations of paper goods are greatly needed at the Crystal Lake Food Pantry. The pantry is not able to buy paper goods through the food bank , and clients are not able to use their SNAP benefits to purchase any paper goods such as toilet paper , Kleenex , paper towels , and napkins . Bring them to the church any time, and your Board members will get them over to the pantry. Paper goods are items that are lightweight, easy to  carry and low cost that can be donated and will be appreciated by the clients . Thank you!!

Food Pantry Facts- Did You Know?
There are three main sources for the food that is stocked at the Crystal Lake Food Pantry.
1.   Weekly donations from the public , and major food drives throughout the year total about 150,000 pounds annually.
2.   Local retail stores donate their excess or slow-selling items.
3.   Certain items are purchased from the Northern Illinois Food Bank as they become available, including eggs, milk, cheese, flour, sugar, and syrup.   The pantry spends about $10,000 per month for these items. That is why monetary donations are appreciated as much as food donations throughout the year.
