This bulletin is packed with important information about opportunities in global health.

Improving Access to Palliative Care: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Ease Serious Health-Related Suffering

CUGH's Capacity Building Platform: A Program to Strengthen Training Capacity in LLMICs
How can we work together to strengthen training capabilities in LLMICs and address critical HR needs? To do this, CUGH created a Capacity Building Platform. It enables universities, governments and NGOs in LLMICs to share requests for trainers across a range of medical and non bio-medical disciplines. Organizations can also post trainers interested in providing training in LLMIC institutions. We hope this will address the human resources gap in LLMICs.

CUGH's Gun Control Tracker: A Program to Support Gun Safety in the US
We continue to see a steady stream of gun violence in the US. Every year more than 100,000 Americans are shot. Of these, 30,000 people die. This is a preventable, public health disaster, and CUGH is addressing it with a simple, non-partisan call for action. Our Gun Control Tracker (below) shows the position of US congresspersons on gun safety regulations.
We need you to share the tracker with your networks. We hope this will increase support for those advancing gun safety reforms.

FINAL CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: TAKEMI PROGRAM IN INTERNATIONAL HEALTH
The Takemi Program in International Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is currently recruiting for the 2010–2021 Fellowship year. Each year the Program recruits a small group of mid-career researchers and professionals to spend an academic year at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. The Takemi Program provides participants with the space, time, and flexibility to enhance their capacity for research and leadership.
Since 1984, 290 Fellows from 56 countries have trained in the Takemi Program. Applicants should be mid-career researchers who have completed graduate degrees, published in internationally recognized journals, and demonstrated potential leadership capacity in their home countries. They are expected to have made, or intend to make, a commitment to a career in health for which participation in the Program will be of significant value. Applications may come from any relevant discipline or profession (e.g., medicine, law, public health, economics, management, and social sciences).

The

APPLY FOR STANFORD'S GLOBAL HEALTH MEDIA FELLOWSHIP
Stanford’s Center for Innovation in Global Health is proud to announce this year’s competition and application for the Stanford Fellowship in Media and Global Health to teach physicians-in-training to use various media channels to advocate and inform on global health issues. Fellows will be chosen from a national pool of US medical students committed to a career in global health. This opportunity provides medical students with 12 months of practical training in the fundamentals of journalism, communications, and global health reporting on a variety of media platforms, including print, online, broadcast, social and digital media. Each year, the fellow participates in three rotations over the course of the fellowship year. She or he spends the fall quarter (September through December) in journalism on campus with
Stanford’s Graduate Program in Journalism
. In the winter, the fellow is embedded with Dr. Sanjay Gupta at CNN in Atlanta to learn the fundamentals of how the news media chooses and researches stories. In late Spring, the fellow is encouraged to pursue an overseas or domestic capstone project of his or her choice on an untold global health story tackling equity issues. A modest living and travel stipend is awarded in addition to the fellowship.

NEW GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN HEALTH CARE INNOVATION IN COSTA RICA
The University of Maryland Graduate School is excited to share the news about their 12-credit Certificate in Global Health Innovation launching in fall 2020. Partnering with the InterAmerican Center for Global Health (CISG), students admitted to this program will participate in an immersive 10-week learning experience in Costa Rica taught by CISG faculty. The curriculum will explore global health and health care innovation in Costa Rica, a country largely recognized as a global leader in translating good ideas into positive health outcomes. Upon completion students will be able conceptualize the transfer of a health care innovation across borders considering the steps required to approve, scale up, and introduce innovations to a new setting.
