FROM THE DESK OF MS. BRESLER...
Dear Parents,

Lent is fast approaching, and our teachers have been working on activities and programs that will make Lent meaningful to the students and their families.  During Advent we looked at the ancestral line of Jesus by using the Jesse Tree. During Lent we will be trying something new, The Jesus Tree.

The Jesus Tree tells us about the life of Jesus by asking us to reflect on different readings from the Gospel of Matthew.  After sharing the reading, there is a short reflection and then a prayer that helps students (and their families) live more like Jesus in their daily lives.

Next Monday, February 24th, each family at St. Veronica will be receiving a set of booklets, one for each week of Lent so that families can do a short devotional each day. This should take no longer than 15 minutes, but those 15 minutes could be a calming and Godly influence for your family each day of Lent.  Included in your kit will be a cross and an ornament for each day of Lent, that matches the reading.  Your children, and maybe even you, will enjoy coloring the ornaments and adding them to your Jesus Tree (the cross).

We hope that you will use this Lenten kit to bring your family closer to God as we prepare to celebrate the most wonderful Holy Day of the year, Easter.

Congratulations, STV Speech Team 2020

"If you're brave enough to start, you're strong enough to finish"

Thirty-nine St. Veronica junior high students not only had the courage to "start" Speech Team, but they excelled all the way to the finish line. This year's team, the largest since Speech Team began in 1984, practiced for a month after school in order to perfect their speeches. They then entertained the students here at St Veronica before traveling to six area schools plus Parents Night.  At Parents Night, team members were presented with their team plaques and shirts.  What an accomplished, amazing group of STV students!

When asked to comment on their Speech Team experiences, the students answered:

"Best thing I ever did at St Veronica."

"I LOVED it all!"

"I liked it all; I will cherish these memories forever."

"I liked the compassion of the Speech Team. At the beginning, we were just a bunch of kids who barely knew each other. By the end, we had become family."

"I liked the constant support and encouragement from the coaches . . . and the food!"

"I liked how Speech Team made you step out of your comfort zone; I believe I can tackle anything now."

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but I liked performing in front of a lot of people!"

"I liked getting to know the 8th grade . . .would never have happened without Speech Team."

"My parents were amazed that I could do this!"

"It was like one big happy family."

"I'm shy . . .or I thought I was. Not anymore!"

"Best experience of my life."

"I would 100% do this again!"

"I wish Speech Team lasted longer."

"I liked it better than sports . . .really can't believe I'm saying that but it's true."

"It was so much fun and rewarding. I'll never be afraid of anything again."

Much thanks to this year's dedicated coaches: Kelsey Fallon, Tracey Peavley, Kay Hohner-Stefanics, Kathie Kayser Lacy,
Becky Vontsolos, Michelle Trefz, Ian Rose, and Abby Jarrold.
