ISS National Lab Annual Report Available Online


Recently announced by Ken Shields, Chief Operating Officer of the International Space Station US National Laboratory, the International Space Station (ISS) US National Laboratory Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2019 (Oct. 1, 2018 - Sept. 30, 2019) is now available online at 
www.issnationallab.org/ar2019.

C
ommitted to continuing growth of the R&D community in low Earth orbit (LEO) for the benefit of humankind, the ISS has by this point hosted 239 people from 19 countries and served as the platform for more than 2,600 experiments from 3,900 researchers in 107 countries, as well as a variety of international and commercial spacecraft.

Since 2017, Small Satellite Virtual Insitute (S3Vi) has curated a fantastic resource collection to advance the Small Satellite community, through their State of the Art reports, SmallSat Parts On Orbit Now (SPOON), Launch Portal, and Small Spacecraft funding opportunities. Over the last year, S3Vi has added bi-monthly webinars to advance this knowledge-sharing and institutional memory for the community. Speakers from NASA centers, partner agencies and NASA-funded universities will present on a wide variety of small spacecraft topics including all phases of mission design, development, and operations; regulatory and process-oriented requirements; exploration and scientific strategies, and opportunities for the community.

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Space Operations & Support Technical Committee (SOSTC) workshop will showcase the development, implementation, and operations of Space-related systems and subsystems. The objectives of the workshop are to:

  • Focus on operations technologies associated with space operations infrastructure, including the internet and other commercial technologies.
  • Develop positions on operational issues needing AIAA input from a cross section of member expertise.
  • Identify approaches and standards for making operations more affordable, more flexible, more productive, and safer.

2020 CUBESAT DEVELOPERS WORKSHOP

4S SYMPOSIUM
