"None of us can think we are exempt from concern for the poor and for social justice."  Pope Francis

Prayer on the Lenten Journey
By Jane Deren

We travel through
Deserts and despair
As we focus on
How Christ was crucified,
And is crucified in the world today.

We agree to make
This journey, this pilgrimage,
And to leave life as usual,
Business as Usual,
To pay attention,
To be present

The journey to the
Light of Easter
Can only go this way.
We choose to learn
This hard truth,
To accept the ashes,
To witness the darkness,
To walk the way of the Cross
As it happens in our world.

Let us journey together,
Open to the world
So we may be renewed
And help bring to all
The renewal of Resurrection.

AMEN

Mobilize in March! Meet with Your Senators
Ask Them to Protect Dreamers

On November 12, 2019, the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) heard oral arguments on the legality of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and is expected to issue a ruling on the legality of the DACA program in late April-June.

At the 2020 Catholic Social Ministry Gathering (CSMG) in January, the DREAM Act was the migration legislative ask that hundreds of event participants advocated for in meetings with lawmakers during the CSMG Advocacy Day. Many thanks to those of you who met with lawmakers last month and asked them to support the DREAM Act and protect Dreamers.

As the SCOTUS DACA decision date approaches, we ask you to continue to voice your support for Dreamers with your Senators in local meetings during the Congressional recess next month, which is March 16-20, 2020.
