Opening Words

Hymn – Great Is Thy Faithfulness - ELW 733, vs. 1, 3

Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with thee;
Thou changest not, thy compassions they fail not;
As thou hast been, thou forever wilt be. Refrain

Refrain: Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed thy hand hath provided;
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me.

Pardon and sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside! Refrain

Greeting
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you.

Prayer

Song and First Reading (Psalm 46)

Though the earth shall change,
though the mountains tremble,
though the waters rage,
you, God, are here.
Though the nations war,
though the peoples battle,
though the empire falters,
we will not fear.

God is our refuge and strength,
    a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change,
    though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea;
though its waters roar and foam,
    though the mountains tremble with its tumult.

Sing through once: Though the earth shall change…

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
    the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be moved;
    God will help it when the morning dawns.
The nations are in an uproar, the kingdoms totter;
    he utters his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord of hosts is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our refuge.

Sing through once: Though the earth shall change…

Come, behold the works of the Lord;
    see what desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
    he breaks the bow, and shatters the spear;
    he burns the shields with fire.
10  “Be still, and know that I am God!
    I am exalted among the nations,
    I am exalted in the earth.”
11  The Lord of hosts is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our refuge.

Sing through once: Though the earth shall change…

Word of God, Word of life, Thanks be to God.

Second reading: 1 Corinthians 12

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. Indeed, the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot would say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear would say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be? As it is, there are many members, yet one body. If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice together with it.

Word of God, Word of life, Thanks be to God.

Blessing

May the God of the whole world,
May the God of peace and strength,
May the God of healing and connection,
give you the courage to face these days not with fear, but with compassion, creativity, and acts of love and service toward your neighbors in need,
May you place your trust in a God who has connected us, one to another, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
Amen.
