Scheduled Upcoming Civic Meetings - Residents are invited to attend the upcoming City meetings.  Below is a list of the meetings with their date, time and location: 
  • The Parks and Recreation Advisory Council meeting will take place on Monday, February 24, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Road.  Please click here to see agenda.
  • The Westland City Council will hold a Study Session on Monday, February 24, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Road in the Council Chambers. The study session will discuss the City of Westland Website Redesign.  Please click here to see agenda. 
  • The Downtown Development Authority Meeting will take place on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. at Westland City Hall, located at 36300 Warren Road.  Please click here to see agenda.
The Westland Youth Assistance Program will be holding Strengthening Families Workshops for Parents and Children on Mondays, February 17, 2020 through March 23, 2020.  These are free sessions with different topics:  helping families learn to communicate better, avoiding peer pressure, building positive relationships and other topics.  The sessions are to be held at Jefferson Barns Community Vitality Center, located at 32150 Dorsey St. Please call (734)467-7904 to register for this 7 week program. 

Blood Pressure Screening - Stop by the Westland Friendship Center for a free blood pressure screening on Thursday, February 27.  Blood Pressure Checks are done from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. by the Westland Fire Department.  It is an excellent way to keep track of your blood pressure.  The Friendship Center is located at 1119 Newburgh Rd.

Join the Relay for Life Kickoff Party 2020 on Thursday, February 27th,  6:30 p.m. located at Westland City Hall, 36300 Warren Road.  Enjoy snacks, meet up with fellow Relayers, hear the 2020 theme, register your team and more.  

SAVE THE DATE - Hockey Night in Westland Mayor William R. Wild, along with his Westland Wild Wings, are once again getting ready to lace up their skates to challenge the Detroit Red Wing Alumni in the 11th Annual Hockey Night in Westland charity event. The event, being presented by North Brothers Ford, will be held on ice on Friday, March 20 at the Mike Modano Ice Arena located at 6210 N. Wildwood St. in Westland. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and at 6:00 p.m. our very own Westland Hockey Association Mini-Mites and Mites will take the ice to show off their skills. The Red Wing Alumni and the Westland Wild Wings will take the ice at 7:00 p.m. This event has turned into one of the community's most anticipated events. Tickets for the event are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12. (Kids 5 and under are free).   "Hockey Night in Westland is the City's premier annual sporting event," commented Mayor Wild. "While we battle it out on the ice, the true winners of the event are the youth hockey and figure skating groups as well as members of the community who utilize the arena. Proceeds from the event have helped to fund improvement projects at Modano, which is looking better than ever."  Tickets are available for purchase at Westland City Hall, the Mike Modano Ice arena, North Brothers Ford (33300 Ford Rd.) and online at https://westland.ticketleap.com/2020-hockey-night-in-westland/ Seating is limited so be sure to get your tickets soon.
