New Chromebooks!
Greetings from Mr. Gault

A Blessed and Happy New Year!

This year we ushered in the New Year very differently. Our first week back following our Christmas recess was fully remote. With the rising COVID-19 infection rates, we wanted to be extra cautious before having students return to the building. On Monday, 11 January we returned to in person lessons following our hybrid schedule. We are all adhering to New York State Department of Health and Department of Education guidelines and protocols.

With the start of the New Year we also begin the process of recruiting for the Class of 2025. This class will start fifth grade in September and when they graduate in June of 2025 they will represent our twentieth graduating class. We have come a long way since our humble beginnings back in 2002, yet there is still much more that is needed to continue the mission of providing a quality human and Christian education for young men from economically challenged families here on Long Island. If you know of any family in the area who would benefit by attending our school, please have them contact us for an application.

This week we were blessed with a visit from Mr. Michael Rakeman and Mr. Brian Schiele, partners at Fellowship Home Loans in Rockville Center. They came along with three associates to deliver 40 chromebooks and 3 SMART-TV's that they purchased for our students. When Mrs. Pam Rakeman, our math teacher was setting up her home classroom to start the new school year, her Son Tom realized how difficult it would be for many of our students to navigate lessons from home. He challenged each of his co-workers to contribute the cost of one Chromebook in order to assist a student with their lessons.  Within 45 minutes they raised $10,000.00 and Fellowship Home Loans matched the donation. The funds were then used to purchase the new Technology for our students to use at home and in school.

The eighth-grade students are also eagerly waiting for the results of the High School entrance exams. The exam to determine placement in a Catholic High School was written in November and the results and acceptance letters were being mailed or emailed by the end of the week. They should have their results this weekend. Please keep our eighth-grade students in your prayers as they discern what the next step in their educational journey will be.

Wishing you all a peaceful, safe and blessed 2021
