Second Family Expo Pop-Up in Miami Gardens on Saturday *
|
|
The Children’s Trust will be holding its second Family Expo event, The Children's Trust Family Expo at PK People Matter Pop-up, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., this Saturday, September 11, at Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex, 3000 NW 199 Street, Miami Gardens, FL 33056. Trust-funded providers and other exhibitors specializing in children's learning, parenting, education, health, as well as physical, mental and social-emotional wellness will have booths. The Family Expo events are free and also feature entertainment and food. For more details click below.

First TRIM Public Hearing Coming Sept. 13
|
|
The Children’s Trust will be holding its first TRIM hearing to tentatively adopt its millage rate and budget for 2021-2022; a public hearing to tentatively adopt the taxes and budget will be held on Monday, September 13, 5:01 p.m. The final TRIM hearing will be held on Monday, September 20, at 5 p.m.

Registration Open for Virtual Semi-Annual Provider Meeting
Tuesday, September 14, from 9 a.m. -12 p.m.
The last two Provider Meetings were a huge success! Let’s keep the momentum going! The Children's Trust will host a general session for all Trust-funded providers from 9-11 am. Breakout sessions will follow for providers in the areas of Youth Development K-5, 6-12, Parenting/Family Strengthening and Partnerships and will take place from 11-12 p.m. Please ensure that all staff members who are essential to our partnership attend this virtual meeting; this includes your executive director/CEO for the morning session, along with the individuals who manage your program for the breakout sessions.

SPARK Training to Start the School Year

The Children's Trust is sponsoring two SPARK (Sports, Play, and Active Recreation for Kids) trainings that will be provided in person in September. Both trainings are for contracted Youth Development K-5 providers using SPARK curriculum for fitness and are exactly the same.

UM Team Coach Offering Parenting Program Support
|
|
Communities of Practice for Parenting Program providers are back up and running! Join a community where members support one another, share best practices and deepen their knowledge. All of the following CoPs are currently being offered virtually and are appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Parenting Programs. If you have any questions or would like additional support, please contact teamcoach@miami.edu.
We know that this uncertain time may be challenging and overwhelming for providers. We believe that, as a community, we have the strength to support one another. During this time, our CoPs will contain extra discussion surrounding COVID-19 and the impact it’s having on your programs, relationships with families, etc.
Parent Stressors & Barriers - This CoP will be held on the first Wednesday of each month from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. In this CoP, we will be identifying key stressors and barriers your families may currently be facing, as well as identifying and practicing strategies to solve these barriers. Creating Support Networks & Community Outreach/Recruitment - This CoP will be held on the first Thursday of each month from 10-11 a.m. In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to create networks of outreach and referrals across parenting providers in the community and discuss program recruitment strategies. You will have the opportunity to get to know other community providers, share information, and support one another. Virtual recruitment will be an ongoing topic. Special Session! The New Normal: Returning to In-Person Services during COVID-19 (Part II)
This CoP will be held on Thursday, September 9, from 9:30-11 a.m. via Zoom. In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to share ideas and problem-solve strategies for returning to in-person services for group-based, home-based, and office-based parenting services. We will discuss recruitment, communication, and safety strategies for your staff and participants. Come prepared to share your agency’s ideas to help all programs successfully serve the community. The Advocacy Network on Disabilities Training Opportunities
|

Navigating Community Resources – Unsure what’s available or where to find help for children with disabilities and their families? Join us for an introduction to the most helpful resources, and learn how to assist families navigate these systems of care.
To receive credit, participants must be present throughout the training with their cameras on, and achieve 80% on the learning assessment. Zoom access information provided upon registration.
Prefer an on-site training? Contact your Inclusion Specialist or Pat Donovan at pdonovan@advocacynetwork.org to schedule a training at your site for up to 20 participants. We are currently offering the following two on-site trainings:
Count Me In: Discovering Inclusion for Kids - Learn fun, meaningful activities to do with your summer camp students to build their disability awareness and encourage them to appreciate differences.
Structures for Success - Youth both with and without disabilities can behave in challenging ways. Learn the seven basic needs youth exhibit and take away strategies for meeting these needs through positive, preventive approaches. This training is especially relevant to YEN and YAS Providers.

FREE Parenting Program with Federation of Families *

The Triple P Parenting Program is for parents with children who have mild to moderate behavioral issues and are under the age of 12 years old. The Program consists of 10 free, 1 hour, parenting sessions with a Triple P Parent Educator from FOF. Parents will learn and practice the skills necessary to tackle behavioral challenges with various strategies implemented from the evidence-based Triple P curriculum. Sessions are provided in English or Spanish, at home or virtual.

Associate Director of Programs - Health *
The Associate Director of Programs, working closely with the Chief Programs Officer, is responsible for leading assigned programmatic areas in the executing of our strategic investments and implementation of various programs. This leader will develop and implement strategies for fostering collaboration among internal and external stakeholders to ensure school-based health services are delivered in accordance with The Children’s Trust standards and latest evidence-based practices. Media Manager
The Media Manager is responsible for assisting the Director of Communications with all forms of media, including earned and paid media, sponsored content, and social media.
The Media Manager will be the primary executor of media strategies as directed by both the Director of Communications and the Director of Public Policy & Community Engagement. The incumbent will also work directly with both marketing and public relations consultants, as assigned. The incumbent will have creative latitude to develop written content in English and Spanish, under the approval of the Director of Communications, and will have the opportunity to pitch and develop media stories.
Communications Project Manager
The Communications Project Manager is responsible for planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget. In this role, the Communications Project Manager will plan, execute, monitor, control and close out projects while keeping stakeholders informed the entire way. This is all done within the confines of the communication's department goals and vision.

The Parent Educator provides education and support to parents and children with disabilities in their home, maintaining fidelity to the Nurturing Parent Program model and other evidence-based Practices selected for service provision. Training and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s in social work, psychology or another related field.
