Update  on the Rabbi Search

The members of the Congregation Vision Committee (CVC) have been very busy! After surveying the congregation to find out what our greatest needs and desires are in a potential Senior Rabbi, we submitted our application to the Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR). Over the last couple months, the committee has reviewed every application received from the CCAR and interviewed all of the candidates we thought could be a potential match for our AMAZING community.

During our weekly meetings, the committee has narrowed the list of potential rabbis and invited the finalists for on-site visits. To date, we have already brought out two candidates and have planned for a third. During these 3 day on-site visits, we scheduled tours of the facilities, meetings and meals with staff, Board members, clergy, TASTY, Committee Chairs, and others. After the visits, the committee surveyed the stakeholders for their feedback on each of the candidates. The CVC has already begun to review this feedback, contact references, and will continue to deliberate until a final recommendation is made.

We are hopeful that the CVC's final recommendation will be presented to the Board of Trustees within the next couple of weeks. Upon approval of the Board, the congregation will be asked to approve the new rabbi at a Special Congregational Meeting. This will allow sufficient time to negotiate a contract and for the new rabbi to make arrangements to begin serving TAS on July 1, 2020.

On behalf of the CVC, we appreciate the support and encouragement we have received from everyone. We will continue our efforts to find the best possible candidate that can fulfill our needs for our Senior Rabbi. It is our hope that this new rabbi will become an integral part of our cherished community. If you have any questions, comments, or thoughts to share, you can contact CVC Co-Chairs, Angela Hyam at [email protected] or Justin Koretz at [email protected].
