Jewish American Heritage Month
Celebrated every May since 2006, Jewish American Heritage Month recognizes and celebrates centuries of contributions made by Jewish Americans to American culture, society, military, science, government, and more. Learn more about some of the Jewish Americans who helped shape the fabric of our history.
Cinco de Mayo
Contrary to popular belief, Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, is not Mexican Independence Day — which falls on September 16. The holiday commemorates the Mexican army’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War in 1862. In the United States, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with a large Mexican-American population. Learn more about the history of Cinco de Mayo.
