WORLD ZIONIST CONGRESS ELECTION -
VOTING IS NOW OPEN!
The World Zionist Congress is the World Zionist Organization’s legislative body that meets every five years in Jerusalem. The Congress is the only body in which all of World Jewry is represented democratically, and, therefore, is your only democratic opportunity to influence Israeli society. It determines policy in Israel, designates its course of action, and chooses the leadership of the World Zionist Organization. Most importantly, the Congress makes decisions that affect the status of Reform and progressive Jews in Israel and across the world and allocates considerable funding available to Progressive Jews in Israel.

Elections are open January 21-March 11, 2020, and your vote is critical to maintaining a large Reform and Reconstructionist presence. For $7.50 you’ll be able to place your vote for the Reform and Reconstructionist Slate here . For step-by-step instructions, go here . Questions? Contact Amy Sherr .

We are interested in identifying "emerging leaders" in our community - people who are either actively involved at Temple Israel or people who we hope will become more involved.  Please submit your recommendations for up to five people and describe how each could develop into future Board of Trustees and Leadership Council members. Learn more about the current Board of Trustees and Leadership Council here .

We All Fall Down
Sunday, February 2 | 2:00 p.m.
527 Tremont Street, Boston

The Stein family is coming together to celebrate Passover for the first time in decades. They have never been particularly religious (okay, not at all), so their comic attempts to bring the Seder to life go from riotous to heart-wrenching in this play.

After the performance join us for a post-show conversation with Rabbi Jen Gubitz.
Join In-District Meetings to Meet With Your Legislators

Be part of the Temple Israel – Greater Boston Interfaith Organization's (GBIO) healthcare campaign to change a broken system that is harming people.

In-district meetings, running various times and places January 25 – February 26, are a great way for you to see GBIO in action at a convenient location, meet your representative, move the healthcare needle on reducing price of prescription drugs, eliminating out-of-network surprise billing, and improving access to mental health and substance use disorder care.

Call Your Senators This Week About Pending Climate Change Legislation

Did you know that one of the most effective ways to reduce the use of fossil fuels is by charging a carbon tax to industrial users? Placing a price on carbon that reflects its costs to the climate, individuals (particularly those living in communities of color), public health, and the economy is a fair and effective way to strengthen our economy, encourage the use of clean and renewable energy, and protect our neighbors and future generations from the worst ravages of climate change. The legislation is at a critical juncture, and we hope you will contact your Senator by January 31 urging them to ask  Senate President Karen Spilka  to include an  equitable and effective  carbon pricing proposal in the legislation.

Please let the staff person answering the phone know that you think a carbon pricing bill is important and needs to be passed now.   Find your legislators here . Please email  Joan Rachlin  or  Jill Hahn with questions .
