Upcoming Event: Webinar on Tapping into the Multiple Benefits of Sustainable Water Management
On Tuesday February 25th at 10:00am PT, Senior Researcher Dr. Sarah Diringer will present in the next installment of WaterNow Alliance's Tap into Resilience webcast series, “Tapping into Multiple Benefits of Sustainable Water Management.” In this free webcast, the Pacific Institute and WaterNow Alliance will dive into the Pacific Institute’s Multi-Benefit Framework and on-the-ground test cases for evaluating the multiple benefits of sustainable management strategies. They will also introduce the Tap into Resilience initiative (TiR) and cover the in-depth resources included in the TiR Toolkit.

President Jason Morrison to Attend Water and Climate Summit
Access to clean water close to home is one of the first lines of defense against climate change, but two billion people currently lack access to a reliable source of clean water. On March 10th, President Jason Morrison will attend the Water and Climate Summit in London, England, where participants will explore how to address the impacts of climate change on access to water, sanitation, and hygiene.

Blog Post: Taps, Toilets, and Good Hygiene: Critical Ingredients for Resilient Agriculture

Achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals is the imperative of our lifetime, writes Ms. Ha. And these cannot be achieved without integrating climate change adaptation and resilience into planning processes. One of the sectors that will see the most significant impacts from climate change will be agriculture. In order to be resilient, companies will need to tackle water, sanitation, and hygiene provision deep in their supply chains, reaching down to the farm level where action can have the greatest impact on workers’ health and well-being.

Blog Post: Pacific Institute Provides Comments on California Water Resilience Portfolio

In January 2020, California state agencies released the draft Water Resilience Portfolio , developed in response to Governor Newsom’s Executive Order (N-10-19) , which called for a comprehensive strategy to build a climate-resilient water system for the 21 st century. Pacific Institute staff submitted a comment letter to the state agencies outlining how the Portfolio could be strengthened, including by prioritizing resilience strategies that use a multi-benefit criteria and ensuring consistency on the importance of water efficiency. In this blog post, Ms. Abraham provides background information on the Portfolio and shares that comment letter.

Update from the CEO Water Mandate: The Water Action Hub
As Co-Secretariat of the  UN Global Compact's   CEO Water Mandate , the Pacific Institute mobilizes business leaders to advance water sustainability around the world. The CEO Water Mandate has created the Water Action Hu b, a free online tool that allows organizations around the world to connect to potential partners and share water stewardship best practices and lessons learned.

Salton Sea Webpage Expanded
We have expanded our popular Current Information on the Salton Sea webpage to include new data on Salton Sea inflows, state habitat, and dust control project activities toward meeting project milestones , as well as recent, unanticipated revegetation of Salton Sea playa. This new data can inform the California State Water Resources Control Board’s  March 18, 2020 Workshop on the Status of Phase 1 of the Salton Sea Management Program,   and provides much-needed information on the continuing decline of the Salton Sea, California's largest lake.
