In addition, under the recently introduced LADWP CARES Utility Grant Program, low-income customers experiencing income loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic may qualify for a one-time $500 grant to help pay their utility bills. Applications deadline extended to November 22, 2020.

Calling Local Non-Profits: Emissions Reduction Project Funding Now Available
 
As we transition to a clean energy future, environmental justice is a priority. We’re offering $10 million in grants to nonprofits for emission reduction projects in L.A.’s Valley and Harbor communities, which are disproportionately burdened by pollution sources such as refineries and truck traffic. Deadline to apply is December 9, 2020.

The HCBF Announces Grant Recipients
HCBF is thrilled to announce the release of $209,169 in grants to Los Angeles Walks, South Bay Center for Counseling, Sharefest Community Development, and Wilmington Community Clinic. These organizations have been greatly assisting the communities of San Pedro and Wilmington for years, and HCBF is honored to work with them this grant season.
Controller Ron Galperin has released an interactive online tool measuring structural disparities and barriers to opportunity in the City of Los Angeles. Through a series of maps, the L.A. Equity Index allows Angelenos to explore a number of socioeconomic factors impact people's lives in each neighborhood. Read the full article.
Community Art Event
Angels Gate Cultural Center (AGCC) is pleased to present Studio Soup, a quarterly series of candid conversations about art and process.  Artist Peggy Reavey hosts a closer look at the unique ways artists move from original impulse to finished piece – how their work comes to be. The conversation includes abstract painters Maggie Lowe Tennesen, Marie Thibeault and sculptor Ann Weber. The virtual conversation takes place on Tuesday, December 1st from 6:30pm - 8pm. Registration for this free event is available at angelsgateart.org or directly at eventbrite.com.

A Survivor's Story
Shelby is 29-years-old and COVID-19 survivor. She contracted the virus in April, and after suffering from headaches, vomiting, and dizziness, Shelby was hospitalized at Cedars Sinai in May. She now needs to wear a heart monitor. Listen to her story by clicking the image to the left.

Los Angeles, November 13, 2020 – Bring home a senior pet from LA Animal Services to celebrate November as Adopt a Senior Pet Month!

Adopt a Senior Pet Month was established to bring about awareness of senior animals in our shelters and to encourage senior pet fostering and adoptions. 
 
A senior pet usually has already lived in a home, they are calmer and require less supervision than puppies and kittens!
