Teacher Appreciation Week
May 2-6 is Teacher Appreciation Week!
Let's show our Rockwell teachers and staff how much we appreciate their tremendous work and dedication. Your PTA has been hard at work planning a full week of activities to celebrate our Rockwell teachers. See the calendar of events below. Please donate today to ensure we have the funds available to spoil our teachers like they deserve!
Monday, May 2: "Kids bring cards" We're asking all students to bring a card to class for their teacher. IA's will make a special breakfast for the teachers.
Tuesday, May 3: "Kids give flowers" Room parents will provide a vase and bouquet of flowers. Each child will be given a flower to present to their teach in the morning.
Wednesday, May 4: "Beach Day" Kids can bring artwork, a toy or dress for the beach! Your PTA is hosting a boxed lunch for all teachers and staff. Please donate to help support this special meal for our staff who've worked tirelessly in this difficult & ever-changing school year!
Thursday, May 5: "Classroom supplies day" We're asking parents to send in classroom supplies (room parents will check with individual teachers on specific supplied needed). Room parents will bring baskets to hold all the supplies that each student brings for their teacher.
Friday, May 6: "Treat your teacher to coffee" Please donate to help fund the coffee cart for our teacher and staff. Room parents will help coordinate teacher gifts from each
All Week! "Virtual Recipes Sharing". What is your go-to Friday night dinner? Our teachers and staff are busy and need new recipe ideas! Please type out your favorite recipe and email it to TAW@normanrockwellpta.org. Your PTA will curate a special recipe book for our teachers!

Heritage Night
May 12th, 5:30PM-7:30PM
Hello Rockwell Families - be sure to mark your calendars for Heritage Night - Thursday, May 12th at Redmond High School, from 5:30PM - 7:30PM
This a FREE event (hosted by your PTA) that the whole family will enjoy. Heritage Night is an opportunity to showcase the beautiful and richly diverse countries of origin in our community. Kids will receive a blank passport as they enter the event. They can then visit the variety of country booths in the auditorium. The kiddos who fill their passport with stamps from around the world will receive a small prize at the end. Families will also enjoy a showcase of performances from around the world.
Some countries that have participated in the pas have been China, Finland, Italy, Guam, India, Bulgaria, Morocco, Mexico, Ukraine, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Japan and more.
We are also honored to be featuring a disability pride booth at Heritage Night, where we will be promoting those living with disabilities. Some disabilities can be seen with eyes, some cannot. The disability pride booth will advocate and encourage those living with disabilities to be confident in all they have to offer the community. Make sure to stop by this fantastic booth!
Kids of all ages love Heritage Night. It's a great time for the community to come together, and to learn about and celebrate each other. We can't wait to see you there!

PTA Service Awards Nomination Needed!
Each year, Norman Rockwell Elementary PTA recognizes volunteers and staff who have given outstanding service to our children and school community. We do this through five awards: the Heart of Rockwell, Dog Gone, Bow Wow, Golden Acorn and the Outstanding Educator Award.
Now is your chance to participate in the selection of our award recipients by nominating candidates for consideration by our awards committee. Please consider nominating anyone that has helped the staff, students, or the Rockwell community at large. There are many people that deserve this award so let's give them a chance to be recognized! Please fill out Rockwell PTA Service Award Nomination Form to nominate volunteers and staff now!

Field Day
June 8th, 2022
For the first time since 2019, we're able to host field day! This is a big Rockwell tradition, and something the kids look forward to every year.
This year it will take place from 9am-11am.
We need at least 40 parent volunteers to help make the event a success. We'll have dozens of different games and outdoor stations set-up for the entire student population. we'll need volunteers willing to help at each station, as well as volunteers willing to come in starting at 8am that morning to fill water balloons and help set-up.

Community Serve Day at Rockwell
Site Leader Needed
Do you have a heart to serve Rockwell? Community Serve Day is returning to Rockwell in full force this summer! What is it? Community Serve Day is an event where local churches, schools, non-profits and businesses come together for our community and help our schools prepare for the comping year by helping set up classrooms, making improvements to the campuses and more. Much more detail will be coming in the future about this event, but for now, mark August 21 on your calendar to serve at Rockwell.
This year, we have BIG need. Each school served has a site lead who works with the school/district and the sponsoring organization to plan and prepare for the event. Our site lead for years past is moving on, and this will be her last year of Service at Rockwell. As such, we need a parent/community member who is willing to serve a co-site lead this year, with plans to be point of contact and potentially serve as the site lead for future years at Rockwell (the current site lead will still be involved this year, so it's a great opportunity to learn the ropes from someone who has done this for 5 years). The site lead attends meetings with the sponsoring organization, plans projects, does a site walkthrough with the district, and is on-site on the day of the event to make sure everything goes smoothly.
If you are interested in learning more and serving our school, please contact our current site lead, Elaine Bentzinger.
