Open to All: Food Distribution Every Wednesday at The Glades Initiative
The Glades Initiative offers weekly food distribution to anyone in need. Those coming in cars are asked to line up beside the office for drive-through pick-up on Wednesdays from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. Both drivers and walkers will receive food bags on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Our staff and volunteers will wear personal protective gear as we handle and distribute the food bags. We ask that drivers and their passengers remain in their vehicles and practice social distancing measures to keep everyone safe.

United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last.
If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.

Back to School PBC! will be a drive-up event on Saturday, July 24 at different locations throughout the county to be announced at a later date. Registration is mandatory to participate in this event. The 2nd Annual Sangeeta Jacobson Scholarship Application is Now Open
This scholarship is dedicated to those who need a little extra assistance in achieving goals. Students do not have to be honor students or students that have never experienced bumps in the road – motivation to achieve is all that is required. Students who have been in foster care, homeless or involved with the juvenile courts are encouraged to apply. Extra consideration will be given to students who have participated in Future Leaders United for Change.

PBC Property Appraiser Accepting Scholarship Applications
The office of Palm Beach County Property Appraiser Dorothy Jacks, CFA, AAS, is now
accepting applications for the 28th Annual Palm Beach County Property Appraiser’s Scholarships. Six college scholarships of $1,500 each will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who plan to attend a higher education institution full time. Each recipient will also be offered an opportunity for a paid summer internship in the Property Appraiser's Office.

How has the COVID-19 Pandemic Affected Your Family
The Early Learning Coalition of Palm Beach County is joining United Way of Palm Beach County in conducting a survey to help better understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This survey asks about you, your household, and what you are doing to get by. It takes about 12 minutes to complete the survey and your responses are confidential, and no one will be able to associate your name with your responses. As an incentive, all survey respondents who provide a valid email address will be entered into a drawing to win one of 10 $50 Visa gift cards.

Was your 2020 household income $66,000 or less? You can receive free tax preparation assistance at one of several VITA locations throughout the county! The VITA Program, made possible by the United Way of Palm Beach County, gives you three choices to electronically file your tax return for a fast refund. All options are by appointment only and supported by IRS-certified volunteers.

From the Pahokee Housing Authority: Attached you will find the Public Notice referencing Pahokee Housing Authority Housing Choice Section 8 (Mainstream) Voucher Waitlist for eligible non-elderly families (A person 18 years of age or older and less than 62 years of age) with disabilities. Also, I’ve included for your review the Mainstream Program Definitions along with a list of required documents to bring, when interviewed. We have a very limited number of vouchers, and many of the families eligible might need assistance in completing the on-line application, accommodations and alike.
