Open to All: Food Distribution Every Wednesday at The Glades Initiative

The Glades Initiative offers weekly food distribution to anyone in need. Those coming in cars are asked to line up beside the office for drive-through pick-up on Wednesdays from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. Both drivers and walkers will receive food bags on a first-come-first-serve basis. 

Our staff and volunteers will wear personal protective gear as we handle and distribute the food bags. We ask that drivers and their passengers remain in their vehicles and practice social distancing measures to keep everyone safe.

New Rental Assistance Program for Undocumented Households

Legal Aid of Palm Beach County just opened its Rapid Response Eviction Assistance III Program (RREAP III). This program will provide legal representation and rental assistance to undocumented tenant households that have experienced loss of income, reduction in hours, or unemployment as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

An interactive tool using Google Maps to help people easily locate free food and hot meals in Palm Beach County. This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Please consider calling the site prior to visiting to verify the information listed. Please note that sites may have specific requirements such as ID.

If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last. 

If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.

West Tech is pleased to announce our newest training program - Forklift Operator Safety
Certification. This program is being offered in partnership with the Safety Council of Palm Beach County, Inc. This safety certification is required by law for ALL employees operating a forklift. This certification meets OSHA standards and must be renewed every 3 years

Registration Still Open for 2021 Back to School PBC! Event

Registration is now open for the 2021 Back to School PBC! event. Back to School PBC! will be a drive-up event on Saturday, July 24 at different locations throughout the county to be announced at a later date. Registration is mandatory to participate in this event. Students must reside in designated neighborhoods or mobile home parks in unincorporated Palm Beach County to be eligible to register.

The 2nd Annual Sangeeta Jacobson Scholarship Application is Now Open

This scholarship is dedicated to those who need a little extra assistance in achieving goals. Students do not have to be honor students or students that have never experienced bumps in the road – motivation to achieve is all that is required. Students who have been in foster care, homeless or involved with the juvenile courts are encouraged to apply. Extra consideration will be given to students who have participated in Future Leaders United for Change.

PBC Property Appraiser Accepting Scholarship Applications

The office of Palm Beach County Property Appraiser Dorothy Jacks, CFA, AAS, is now
accepting applications for the 28th Annual Palm Beach County Property Appraiser’s Scholarships. Six college scholarships of $1,500 each will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who plan to attend a higher education institution full time. Each recipient will also be offered an opportunity for a paid summer internship in the Property Appraiser's Office.

The Early Learning Coalition of Palm Beach County is joining United Way of Palm Beach County in conducting a survey to help better understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This survey asks about you, your household, and what you are doing to get by. It takes about 12 minutes to complete the survey and your responses are confidential, and no one will be able to associate your name with your responses.
