Musculoskeletal Injury Resources & Webinars
|
|
Musculoskeletal injuries due to repetitive use, overexertion, and heavy lifting are a significant problem for workers in Alberta. The province has identified MSIs as one of it's three system priorities for Alberta's OHS prevention initiative as these injuries are common, costly, and preventable.

Ergonomics Coaching Sessions
In partnership with EWI Works, we're offering a monthly ergonomics coaching webinar! Register now to take advantage of these free 90-minute sessions.
Office Ergonomics (Sept. 16 @ 2pm): With more employees returning to their offices, it is a good time for a review of office ergonomics. The session will review the recommended setup for office equipment including desk, chair, monitors, keyboards and mice. In addition to proper setup, other health and comfort strategies will be addressed.
Dynamic Warm-Up (Oct. 21 @ 2pm): While the dynamic warm-up is targeted to field workers, office employees would also benefit from this interactive presentation. This session begins with the importance of warming up the muscles before engaging in heavy work, along with tips on how to roll out the program, then a variety of dynamic movements are demonstrated to increase heart rate and muscle temperature to prepare the body for work. Participants are encouraged to complete the dynamic movements along with the facilitator.
Vehicle Ergonomics - Driving and Operating Heavy Equipment (Nov. 18 @ 2pm): Anyone who spends significant time driving, or operating heavy equipment will benefit from learning about all the items within a vehicle that should be adjusted by the operator. This session will also discuss other health and comfort strategies such as how often to get up and move during the day. Front line operators, as well as those involved in purchasing fleet vehicles will gain knowledge during this session.
Vehicle Ergonomics - Mobile Office (Dec. 16 @ 2pm): Is your vehicle used as mobile office? Do you use a laptop or other technology in your vehicle? This session will focus on how to setup the vehicle for tasks other than driving. Anyone who uses their vehicle as an office, as well as those involved in purchasing fleet vehicles will gain knowledge during this session.
