Exhibitor Information About 2020 Junior Livestock
and Ag Mechanics Shows and Online Auction

Hello Junior Livestock and Ag Mechanics exhibitors! We're busy planning for the Junior Livestock and Ag Mechanics shows and the online auction. Below are answers to some commonly asked questions.

When is the Junior Livestock and Ag Mechanics Auction?
The online Junior Livestock and Ag Mechanics Auction is August 13 - 15. We shared a "Save the Date" card on social media. If you'd like an electronic copy of the card to share with potential buyers, please email [email protected]

Will there be an online show for livestock exhibitors?
Yes. Professional judges have been hired to judge the show virtually. The judges will be selecting champions only.

Do I have to participate in the livestock show if I want to participate in the auction?
Participating in the livestock show is optional. You do not need to participate in the livestock show if you want to participate in the auction. However, if you do participate in the show, the animal entered in virtual show must then sell at the auction.

How will Ag Mechanics projects be evaluated?
Projects will be dropped off at the Fairgrounds, and a judge will then determine if the project is market ready and will select a Champion. Detailed instructions will be posted on our website at NevadaCountyFair.com and sent via email to exhibitors.

Do I have to participate in the Ag Mechanics evaluation if I want to participate in the auction?
Yes, since the evaluation is used to determine market readiness for the auction.

Is there a reduced commission?
Yes! For this year only, the sales commission has been reduced to 1%, made by possible by the generosity of the Nevada County Fairgrounds, Nevada County Livestock Producers,  Nevada County Fairgrounds Foundation, Nevada Union FFA Boosters, the Bear River FFA Boosters, the Nevada County Agricultural Youth Boosters, and the Nevada County Farm Bureau.

How will the market animals be judged in the virtual show?
The market animals in the virtual show will be judged based on three photos of the animal, as well as a 60-90 second video. Step-by-step instructions on this requirement will be posted on our website and sent via email.

When will a market ready determination be made for the market animals?
A market ready determination will not be made as part of the online show.  Instead,  animals  will be vet checked and evaluated for market readiness when dropped off following the online sale.  Any animal that doesn't make weight, doesn't pass the vet check, or is determined not market ready will return home and the sale will be voided.

When will I have to upload photos and video for the online show and/or auction?
The photos and video will need to be uploaded between Friday, July 24 through Monday, August 3. Exhibitors will be sent detailed instructions and specifications for the photos/video via email.

Will I need to wear a uniform for the photos and video for the virtual show and auction?
Yes. Both junior livestock and ag mechanic exhibitors will need to be in uniform.  If you need assistance with a uniform or pieces to complete your uniform, please contact the White Barn Project at [email protected] and they will be able to assist exhibitors at no cost.

Will the livestock and ag mechanics champions receive awards?
Yes, thanks to the generous support from our community sponsors.

What is the deadline for exhibitors to decide if they are going to participate in the show? Auction?
The deadline for exhibitors to declare if they want to participate in the show or the auction (or both) is Monday, August 3. There will be an opt in/opt out form posted on our website and sent to exhibitors.

When will market animals need to be dropped off following the virtual sale?
All market animals will be dropped off on Sunday, August 16. There will be time slots for each species.  At the time of drop off, a COVID-19 release form and a drug form will be required. All necessary forms will be posted at NevadaCountyFair.com and sent via email to exhibitors.
