Rescuing Golden Retrievers & Golden Retriever Mixes Since 2003
SEPTEMBER 2021
A Message from the President and Founder, Lauren Genkinger
As a rescue, our mission is to help golden retriever's who are in danger. This year we have continued our international outreach by rescuing golden retrievers from the meat trade in China. In addition, we stay committed to our domestic mission. We never say no to any Golden Retriever, Golden Mixes, disabled goldens or seniors. Adopt a Golden Atlanta, working with our partners, China Rescue Dogs has successfully rescued over 48 Golden Retrievers from China's horrific meat trade. We have committed to rescuing 20 more Golden Retrievers before they are butchered and sold to the meat trade.

Unfortunately, on July 14th, the CDC enacted a policy banning importation of dogs from 113 countries. We must get our 20 dogs out of China before the winter, as our dogs will not survive and are in grave danger. We are currently transporting our dogs from all over China to Beijing where they will be fully vetted. We will then fly our dogs to Canada where they will be vetted again and well cared for until the CDC requirements are met. Once the requirements are met we can fly them to Atlanta where we will find loving homes for our dogs. We can't do this without your donations.

Please help us get these at risk golden retrievers over to American soil so our approved adopters, who have been waiting to give a golden retriever a second chance at life, can welcome them into their family. To make this happen, we need to raise enough money to fly 20 dogs out of China to Canada! Once our dogs arrive in Canada we are prepared to prove the good health of these dogs and we will quarantine them in Canada for as long as the CDC requires. I'm asking all our friends to make a donation to help get these golden retrievers to a home so they can know what love feels like. Please don't allow them to be tortured, slaughtered, and eaten at the meat markets. Our goal is to raise $60,000 - $3,000 per dog for travel alone to the USA. Won't you help us get these dogs on a plane to freedom!

Much gratitude,
Sneak Peek of China Dogs waiting for freedom!

Meet AGA's friend Connor
An amazing kid named Connor, a proud owner of two adorable Goldens, reached out to AGA through an organization called Kids Boost. Kids Boost empowers kids to give back to the world. They encourage kids to raise money for a charity important to them. Kids Boost supports the kids along the way but the fundraising project is up to the child.

Connor decided to use his love of baking to raise money for Adopt a Golden Atlanta through creating a "doggy donut" treat sale for dogs. Connor worked very hard to make this vision a reality. He researched dog treat recipes, gathered supplies, baked over 900 dog treats and set up a treat stand in his neighborhood! He sold all of the treats he baked, and even baked more for extra orders placed! Connor raised $1,781.00 with the sale of his treats. Because of Connor, AGA will receive financial support to continue to give the best care to goldens.

When Connor came to present the check to AGA, we had a little surprise for him as well. We called on some of our friends to bring their goldens from AGA so Connor and his family could see some of the wonderful goldens that AGA has found amazing homes for. It was nothing but a love fest of goldens!

Thank you Connor for your wonderful donation and loving goldens as much as we do!
Orphan of the Month
Meet Cody
I know the perfect home is out there and I'm ready to find it! My foster dad says that I'm a very good boy and I love to cuddle. I'm still pretty young and I have a lot of energy to burn so I really like an active family, as long as there are no little kids around because I might be a bit too energetic for them. I know I'm not perfect but who is? You can read more about me here.

What's New with Duke?
If your unfamiliar with Duke's story, please watch the video below. Duke was an AGA dog who was adopted in 2018. As his story reveals he had a pretty rough 2019 and then the pandemic of 2020 but 2021 sure has been good so far. Duke and his brother Jake got to see their mom get married and that means they have a new dad! We'd like to share some pictures of Duke's family getting married. All your friends at AGA wish nothing but the best for all of you!

A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers, especially the foster families that helped these orphans find their forever families. None of this happens without
