On-Demand Training from the PPMC

PPMC Talent and Professional Services Manager Paula Downs has been hard at work creating an innovative new way of delivering professional development training. Her on-demand training will address knowledge, skills and abilities in customer service through online video. The on-demand videos allow staff to access training at convenient learning times in 20-minute mini-lessons. After completing the training series, participants will respond to questions that demonstrate their understanding of the topic.

On-demand training provides the opportunity for organizations to offer convenient training to all staff no matter where they are located or what shift they work. Because of its mini-learning format, staff can schedule training around other tasks. The customer service series is the first on-demand training to be offered by the PPMC, but we look forward to developing additional topics in 2019.
Lisa Dodson with her KMA co-presenters
Lisa Dodson Presents at Association of State and Local History Annual Meeting

Research and Program Evaluation Manager Lisa Dodson and the Kansas Museums Association (KMA) co-presented a case study,"Innovation and Collaboration: The Secret to Organizational Sustainability and Growth," to over 65 museum professionals at the Association of State and Local History (AASLH) annual meeting in Kansas City on September 28. This case study showed how the museum association partnered with the PPMC to manage association functions including membership, conference planning and board support. This partnership helps the association ensure sustainability and provides additional connections to resources the association could not afford to develop on its own. By partnering with the PPMC, the association can focus on strategic initiatives rather than the routine operational functions of association management. Following a one-year pilot study, the KMA has signed a three-year contract with the PPMC.

Speakers included Lisa Dodson, Research and Program Evaluation Manger, PPMC and KMA director; Bob Workman, President of KMA and recently retired director of the Ulrich Museum and Shannon Hsu, past-president of KMA and curator of Shawnee Town Museum.
PPMC Says Goodbye to Kayla Vix
