We Are YC Celebration
Last chance to purchase tickets!

It’s time to celebrate YC! You are invited to join us on Saturday, September 11, from 6-10 PM at York Catholic Middle & High School for a festive evening of hors d’oeuvres, silent and live auctions, camaraderie, and fun!

We’re excited to have everyone back in our building so we can show you the new renovations! Gather your friends and enjoy a fun night out! Click below to make your reservation by Monday, September 6 This event is for ages 21+.

Class Baskets
One of the highlights of this special event is our silent auction. Our planning committee is actively coordinating gift baskets from parents of each grade but we need your help. Please consider donating a monetary gift to go toward the creation of a basket for your child's class to be auctioned off at the event. Checks should be made payable to York Catholic and dropped off at the school by this Friday, September 3. If you have any questions, please contact Heather Hoffman at hhoffman@yorkcatholic.org or 717-846-8871 x220.
All proceeds raised from the We Are YC Celebration will benefit our York Catholic Fund, enabling us to invest in tuition assistance for those in need, a vibrant curriculum, technology upgrades, the arts and athletics, resources for our valued teachers, and the beautification and safety of our school.

For more information about the We Are YC Celebration, contact Laurie Moir at lmoir@yorkcatholic.org or 717-846-8871 x322.

York Catholic Fund
THANK YOU to the many parents, alumni, and friends who have given thoughtfully to York Catholic in this past year.

Gifts offered as volunteerism, donated services/goods, and contributions to the York Catholic Fund, Capital Campaign, facilities, tuition assistance, athletics, and other projects at YC are all greatly appreciated.

Your commitment to our school resulted in over 1,180 gifts to York Catholic raising over $2 million!

Last week, we kicked off our 2021-22 York Catholic Fund annual appeal and encourage you to consider a gift to York Catholic.

We thank you for your continued support of our students who would not realize the benefit of a York Catholic education without you, and we look forward to your continued support this coming school year.
Looking for a Tax Break?
York Catholic is excited to share some information with you that is sure to change how you view paying your state and federal taxes each year!

If you pay personal state income taxes, you now have the opportunity (whether filing individually or jointly) to choose how these taxes are spent each year by joining a Special Purpose Entity (SPE). SPEs are based on tax liability, not income, therefore each taxpayer’s situation will differ. An individual or couple filing jointly must have a state tax liability of $3,500 or more to participate. To see if you qualify for 2021, you can find your PA tax liability on Form PA-40 Line 12 of your 2020 tax return.

You could receive at least a 10% deduction on your personal federal taxes each year, so why not have your personal state income taxes serve as tuition assistance funds, allowing more students to thrive at York Catholic High School?
If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please follow these steps:

All SPE funds are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so NOW is the time to submit your Joinder Agreement for the 2021 Tax Year!

For more information about this easy tax donation, please contact Katie Seufert, York Catholic Principal, at kseufert@yorkcatholic.org.
Refer a Friend to YC
If you know a friend, family member, or anyone looking for a high-quality, Christ-centered education for their children who do not already attend a Catholic school, you could receive a $250 credit toward your child's tuition at York Catholic.

York Catholic's Parent Referral Program is a win-win for everyone involved. Referred students receive an outstanding education from York Catholic, while parents of the referred families get peace of mind knowing their child is gaining so much more than just a top-notch education. Families who refer someone who registers at York Catholic receive a $250 credit towards their child's tuition.

You, as parents, are our best ambassadors.  In order for the Parent Referral Program to be a success, we need information about individuals who may be interested in joining the York Catholic family. All you need to do is click below to fill out the form. If the family you refer attends York Catholic through their first semester, your family's tuition will be credited $250, spread into 4 credits applied to the months of February, March, April, and May.

It really is that simple. So go ahead. Please click on the box below and allow us the opportunity to do what we love -- help to develop, nurture, and encourage children so they may grow in faith, mind, and heart. Mail or email the form to us and we will take it from there!

The Parent Referral Program is open to all parents of current York Catholic students. The tuition credit is not available for referring your own children. The $250 credit is only good toward tuition on a student's account; no cash is given, and it is non-transferrable. A referred student applies only to a new student from a non-partner school.

Thank you for all you do for our school!
Spirit Shirt Friday

Tomorrow, September 3, is Spirit Shirt Friday. Students may wear their favorite YC spirit shirt in place of their uniform shirt. Students still must wear the standard uniform pants or skirt. Spirit Shirt Fridays require a $1 fee payable in homeroom to support Student Council activities for all students throughout the year.

No School Monday

School will not be in session Monday, September 6,
in observance of Labor Day.

Back-to-School Forms Needed
Back-to-School Online Forms and Paper Forms were due August 4. Thank you to those parents who have completed the forms. If you have not yet completed this process, please be sure to complete it today.

Paper Forms
There are a few forms that require original signatures instead of electronic signatures. Due to needing an original signature, we cannot accept these forms through email or fax.  Please drop-off those paper forms to YC by tomorrow, September 3.

Online Forms
As we previously communicated, we are now using FamilyID.com for our online forms. If you haven’t already done so, please create your online FamilyID account now. Complete details about setting up an account can be found by clicking here.

Once your account is set-up, please click the button below to be directed to the online Back-to-School Packet for 2021-22. It should only take a few minutes to complete. Online forms are due by tomorrow, September 3.
Back-to-School Night
We hope to see you at Back to School Night Thursday, September 9, at 6 PM. The evening begins with a welcome in the auditorium followed by parents having the opportunity to follow their child’s schedule to meet the teachers and learn about class expectations. We look forward to seeing all of our parents in attendance. Masks are required.
Lunch Account Update
The Lunchtime link is now available for you to deposit lunch money into your student’s account. Our Lunchtime Point of Sale purchasing system for student lunches is connected directly to the Vision online parent portal. Parents simply log in to the Vision parent portal, choose “More” in the upper right corner, select “Fees,” and click “Make Cafeteria Deposit.” As parents, you will be able to view what your student is purchasing in the cafeteria and the remaining balance in the account.

To ensure we are using this system to its potential, everyone is required to use their Lunchtime account log in to pay for his or her lunch meals. The following policies are in place regarding Lunchtime Accounts and Balances. We encourage parents to sign up for email notification when their Lunchtime account balances are getting low.

  • Checks and/or cash are not accepted in the cafeteria for food purchases during lunch periods. It is the responsibility of the student to submit a check (not cash) in a sealed envelope (clearly labeled with his/her name, grade, and student ID number) and place it in the Lunchtime box located in the cafeteria for the student’s account to be credited. The minimum check amount is $10. Funds may not be available for 24 hours.
  • It is the student and parent’s responsibility to monitor the Lunchtime account online for balance information and retain a positive balance at all times.
  • If a student has a lunchtime balance at $0.00 or below, they will only have the option to purchase a lunch consisting of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, fruit, and 8 oz. drink for $3.00.
  • No refunds will be given during the school year. Seniors will be issued a refund on accounts with a balance of $5 or more after graduation unless they have a sibling enrolled at YC in which case the balance will be transferred to the sibling for the next school year. All underclassmen accounts will roll-over to the next school year.
  • Report cards and Vision access will be held at the end of each quarter if Lunchtime balances are not current.

If you need assistance accessing your Lunchtime account, please contact Deb Gingerich at dgingerich@yorkcatholic.org or 717-846-8871 x319.
Schedule Changes
Any request for a course change must be accompanied by a written parental request, teacher approval (as originally needed), and a $25.00 Late Roster Change Fee. Since the Master Roster is built according to the original registration of students, we cannot guarantee admission to particular classes. For incoming new students, if an error has been made in placement, teachers will initiate the needed change and no fee will be assessed. Students requesting schedule changes must do so during the Drop Add period, which ends September 17, and no changes will be made after that date. Level changes, however, will be considered into the first quarter at the discretion of the subject teacher for any student who has been inaccurately placed in a course.

School Day SAT for Seniors
York Catholic is administering the SAT to any interested senior on Wednesday, October 13. The exam will begin at 8:15 AM, end by noon, and students will miss their morning classes. The essay section will not be offered; cost for the exam is $60.00.  To register, click the button below or login to Family ID and click on the link titled, "SAT Registration October 13th Seniors Only." Registration and payment are due by 8 AM on Tuesday, September 14.  Questions regarding administration or registration may be directed to Mrs. Hand at khand@yorkcatholic.org
