Lake Superior State University celebrated 387 new graduates along with their families and friends at the 60th annual commencement held on May 7, 2022. The Lake State students earned 522 degrees across the disciplines: 347 bachelor’s degrees, 159 associate degrees, and 16 certificates in fisheries and wildlife management, engineering, robotics engineering, nursing, criminal justice, business, fire science, and kinesiology, plus many other fields.

Keynote speaker U.S. Sen. Gary Peters of Michigan called LSSU a “world-class institution” that prepares graduates for “in-demand and forward-looking jobs,” he said. Urging graduates to become leaders of tomorrow in the workforce and in the community, he observed, “Your new journey begins today.” Read more.

Registration Open for Camp LSSU

Camp LSSU 2022 offers an array of summer camps at Lake Superior State University and the surrounding area throughout June and July 2022 for primary and secondary schoolchildren. Activities will range for each camp and may include conducting experiments in LSSU’s state-of-the-art science labs, wading in Lake Superior to examine macroinvertebrates, or eating s’mores in front of a roaring fire.

Brian Blomstrom '98, was appointed to represent the Michigan Fire Service Instructors Association for a term commencing May 12, 2022 and expiring January 31, 2026.
TJ Emerick '97, landed a Black Hawk helicopter at a Metro Detroit elementary school in an effort to engage children in the topics associated with science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Watch video.

LAKER ATHLETICS
Lake Superior State sophomore thrower Jenna Fleming has qualified for the 2022 NCAA Division II Men's & Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Allendale, Michigan at Grand Valley State University on May 26-28. Read more.
The Lakers men's and women's track teams traveled to Grand Valley State University in Allendale, MI last weekend to take part in the 2022 GLIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Both teams had strong showings in both the running events and the field events. Read more.
The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) announced its 104-game conference schedule earlier this month. All eight CCHA teams will play a 26-game conference slate with the regular season champion being awarded the prestigious MacNaughton Cup, recognized as the premiere conference trophy in collegiate hockey. Read more.
The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced that Lake Superior State's Maddie Whip has been named the Women's GLIAC Freshman of the Year. Read More.
The Lake Superior State men's and women's tennis teams finished the 2022 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) tournament season in Midland, MI on April 29th and 30th at the Midland Tennis Center. Read More.

Upcoming Events
Join your fellow Lakers to cheer on the Detroit Tigers at this season's Lake Superior State Night at Comerica Park. Enjoy America’s favorite pastime and show your Laker/Tiger pride alongside your friends, family and colleagues.

Pricing for the special ticket package includes either a $63 ticket located in the Outfield Box, or $35 ticket located in the Mezzanine area. A portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold will go back to support our students at Lake Superior State University. This popular event usually sells out, so order your tickets early. There will be a pre-game alumni meet-up inside Comerica Park at the Pepsi Porch in right field.
