SPRING 2021 MOVE-IN UPDATE
Welcome to the spring 2021 semester. We hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable break, and are looking forward to a strong finish for the year. Thanks to your efforts, last semester was a great success — let's do it again!

Please read this message carefully as you prepare to move in to your campus living space. If you have questions, please contact the Housing and Dining Services office.
SPRING OPENING DATES
K-State’s residence halls officially open at noon Friday, Jan. 22, with the first meal served at dinner on Jan. 22.

Students have the option to move into their residence hall assignment earlier than the official opening date starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20.

  • Students moving into the residence halls prior to Jan. 22 will be charged a $50 daily fee covering housing and meals for the additional days.
  • Meals for early move-in students will begin with lunch on Jan. 20. Meals prior to Monday, Jan. 25, will be served at Kramer Dining Center.
MOVE-IN PROCEDURE
  •  Sign up for a check-in time at least 48 hours prior to arrival. An automatic confirmation will be sent to your K-State email address. Please print this email and place it on the dashboard of your vehicle when you arrive.
  • Upon arrival, proceed to the front desk for a brief check-in process.
  • Please park in the spaces closest to the building while unloading only, then move to a larger lot nearby.
  • You may have a couple of family members or friends assist you with moving back into the residence halls if needed. These individuals are permitted inside the residence hall while assisting with move-in only. Face coverings will be required for all per university policy.
  • If possible, bring your own small cart or dolly to expedite your move.
REMOTE INSTRUCTION PERIOD
Laptop
As announced in the Jan. 8 campus update, course delivery is online only until Monday, Feb. 8.

The residence halls and dining centers will be in full operation. This change will not affect Housing and Dining Services contracts or rates, regardless of the date you choose to check in.
BEFORE YOU RETURN
We’re looking forward to having you back on campus! It's critical that our K-State family works together toward a safe return, so we ask that you practice self-monitoring and prevention strategies for 10 days before your return. Please avoid parties or gatherings that do not follow the CDC guidelines.

  • If you have access to COVID-19 testing, we recommend you get a test during the 10-day period prior to your return with enough time to know the results before you travel.
  • If you’re displaying symptoms or have tested positive in the 10 days prior to arrival, do not return to your residence hall until your isolation timeframe is complete and you’re symptom free.
WHAT TO EXPECT FOR THE SPRING SEMESTER
Housing and Dining Services will continue to take measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our facilities. The fall semester was a success in minimizing cases in the residence halls thanks to the willingness of students and staff to take personal responsibility in keeping each other safe.

  • Students are required to abide by the policies put in place, including but not limited to those regarding face coverings, social distancing and capacity limits in common spaces.
  • The guest policy will continue to limit guests to residents within the same residence hall and by number of individuals in the room. Expansion of the guest policy will be considered if conditions allow.
  • Additional spaces are available for students who would like a single room. More information about single room options will be sent to you shortly.
  • Isolation and quarantine procedures will continue when positive COVID-19 cases occur in the residence halls to control the spread of the virus.
  • Free asymptomatic testing will be continue to be available for all students. We’re working with Lafene Health Center to have mobile testing locations added near the residence halls.
  • In the dining centers, grab-and-go meals and limited dine-in options (as conditions allow) will continue to be available in Kramer and Derby dining centers.
  • Our maintenance and housekeeping staff will continue to maintain and clean common area spaces with the stringent procedures utilized during the fall semester. Synexis machine installation is ongoing and a majority of our residence hall rooms now have the units.
