Our new full-time Grounds Specialist, Edgar Portillo
Welcome to the 2020
Golfing Season!

As we start the new season, I hope everyone will stop and introduce yourselves to our new full time grounds specialist, Edgar Portillo. He comes to us with 20 years experience from Pheasant Run Golf Course. As he has already proven, there's not much he can't do. I do believe it's going to be a good year!

Last year we saw an increase in cart traffic around the greens and tees. We started staking off a few greens to prevent cart traffic and saw quite an improvement in turf quality. So this year we have plans to expand the protection to green surrounds to all nine holes. To start the year, we will paint a 30 feet circle around each green. If we feel the circle is not enough deterrent, then we will need to use stakes. I'm hoping the paint will work because staking all nine green will present a maintenance nightmare. We thank you in advance for helping us create the best playing conditions possible here at PGC.

This winter also was a good time for us to have some tree removal done. The Naturalist department cleared the dead and non-native trees in Norris Woods along #5 fence line. Now all of you that like the left side of the fairway will find nothing overhead to impede your next shot! We also had a company remove two willows at #8 tee that were dropping limbs all last year. A security fence will be installed to protect eighth tee area from errant shots from #7.

As always, we hope 2020 is a wonderful golfing year! See you soon!
