Dear GMHS Students and Families,

Earlier today, the District announced the next steps to reopening grades 6-12 for 100% in person learning. Here is a link to the District communication.

Phase 1 - March 15 - In Person: Interventions, targeted supports, and enrichment

  • GMHS has been working with students and families for targeted support and interventions over the last several weeks.
  • This includes Study Groups and teachers working with small groups and one on one with students.
  • Several of our Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes have students attending on Fridays.
  • Health protocols are followed.
  • Given the District's ability to continue moving forward to reopening schools, we will be allowed to expand these opportunities to more students.
  • This can include Advanced Placement supports, club meetings, and other opportunities to support students in person following Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) guidelines.
  • In this communication next Friday, we will provide more details on opportunities we can provide to students on Fridays and throughout the week this semester.
  • We will continue to monitor JCPH guidelines and remain in compliance.
  • Remote only students will be able to engage in these additional opportunities as well as we strive to maintain an equitable approach for all students given the situation.

March 29-April 2 - Spring Break

Phase 2 - April 5 - Hybrid Learning Model Ends / Move to 100% In Person
  • Hybrid students will move to attending in person Monday - Thursday.
  • Hybrid students who wish to move to full remote learning are asked to contact your grade level counselor to request a move to remote learning.
  • Remote students who wish to move to 100% In Person learning are asked to contact your grade level counselor to request a move to in person learning.
  • We ask families requesting a change in learning environment to do so by March 12 so we can work to equitably meet these requests, but will be bound by schedules, class sizes, and resources.

2021-2022 School Year
  • We will continue moving forward with planning for 100% in person learning (like pre-COVID) in August, 2021.
  • The District is offering a Synchronous Remote Learning option for students who will continue full remote learning.
  • The District is currently designing the Synchronous Remote Learning School and we expect more information to be released over the next few weeks.

We made the following graphic for your reference related to the move to 100% in person learning.

Thank you for your continued support!

Go Rams!

GMHS Library Update
The GMHS library is up and running! We encourage your students to continue checking out books, both physical and eBooks. Your student can place holds on physical books through the GMHS online catalog, and we'll pre-check them out to have the books available for their pickup at the circulation desk.

Donations: we continually accept donations to help build our high-interest book collection. If you have any current (within 5 years) books in good condition that you would like to donate, please drop them at the school. If you can't part with your beloved books (understandable!) and would still like to support our library, please visit our Amazon.com Wish List.
Spring Break Reading:  we are working on a fun spring break reading program to continue supporting students' interest in reading, as well as build connections with each other while building literacy. Please look out for more information, and if you would like to donate any prizes, connect with me!
