New Campus Exit Procedure
Hounds,

The University hopes this message finds you and your semester going well.

Effective tomorrow, Friday, March 5, the University will implement a new procedure to maintain the “campus bubble” and promote the health and safety of the campus community. The fall semester witnessed an increase in COVID-19 cases among residential students upon returning to campus from trips home. Despite the decrease in COVID-19 cases, the virus remains a significant public health risk. Therefore, as an additional safety measure, beginning tomorrow, when departing campus, you will be required to scan your University ID to raise the exit gate.

WHO CAN LEAVE CAMPUS?
As a reminder, residential students are only permitted to travel off-campus for essential purposes, defined as preapproved medical appointments and preapproved internships/work. The application for internship/work request can be found HERE

HOW TO SUBMIT A REQUEST TO LEAVE CAMPUS
To submit a request to leave campus for essential purposes, you must complete the Travel Form, located under the Wellness tab on the AU Mobile App at least 5 days prior to your proposed departure. Requests made with less than five days notice may not be approved.

If you have an emergency and need to leave campus, please call Public Safety at (508) 767-7225 so the Dispatcher is aware of your departure and can provide assistance upon departure.

We recognize this is an additional requirement during a time where much is already asked. However, please understand the goal of this new procedure is to maintain the health and safety of our residential community and gives us the best opportunity to complete the spring semester in-person.

As we hope you’ve found true throughout the fall semester, we’re here for you through this challenging time! Should you have questions related to residential life and housing on campus, please email the Office of Residential LifeOther questions can be emailed to the Office of Student Life.

Thank you in advance for doing your part to keep our community safe and healthy!
