No New Funds in State Budget for Early Care and Education - Keep Pushing Your Senator!
Dear Advocates,

Thank you for raising your voice for Louisiana’s children during this special session with United Way and the Ready Louisiana Coalition. Unfortunately, the Senate Finance committee did not add any additional funding for early care and education to HB 1, the state budget. This means that approximately 4,000 children currently being served in the Child Care Assistance Program will be removed from the program over the coming months.

ACTION: The bill will now move to the Senate floor for a vote. While the bill is unlikely to get amended on the floor, please contact your Senator and let them know that early care and education did not get any additional funding in HB 1 and that it is desperately needed. Find contact information for your Senator here and the Ready Louisiana ask here .

This is disappointing news, but we intend to advocate for Louisiana's children until the session adjourns , and we must continue to make the case for early care and education for future special and general sessions.
Thank you for fighting with United Way for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in our community. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
