SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Dear Parents, Guardians and Community,

I hope all of you recovered from the aftermath of Hurricane Zeta. While some were without power for many days, it seems most has been restored so we can hopefully resume with our lives. Today was staff PD, a yearly event for our foreign teachers who participate in required professional development with CODOFIL, and a special time for our remaining staff to plan, learn and work together to better serve our students.

Tomorrow, November 3rd, we will be electing the next president, senator, state and local representatives. There is no doubt that the results of the election will be felt within our community in ways that we cannot predict.

As a school that prides itself on the value of unity and respect for each other's differences, we will approach the effect of this election season by providing an environment that maintains a sense of normalcy, consistency and unwavering support to our students, whether they feel a sense of victory or loss. We have the important responsibility to foster a sense of belonging for all while delivering high-quality instruction. Our educators will maintain the responsibility to not be partisan and to communicate our school values in order to prevent incidents of bias, bullying and discrimination. Even though so much is partisan and divisive, we will focus on what brings us together, rather than that which separates us. Please know that our school counselors will be there to support our students, and have the tools to provide neutral and reassuring responses, engage in appropriate conversations and help students respond in compassionate ways. This is how we can learn, heal and move forward together as a family, as ONE Lycée!

For now, the future is still enveloped in uncertainty, which can be unsettling. However, our differing ideas and opinions can make us stronger if we choose to engage in meaningful ways and find value in our respectul exchanges.
Lastly, as participation in our democracy is of utmost importance, I hope you will all go to the polls if you have not yet voted.

LEXIA IS AWESOME!? HAVE YOU TRIED IT WITH YOUR STUDENT?
Did you know that in grades K-5, LFNO uses Lexia not just to boost foundational and advanced reading skills, but also to guide literacy instruction?

As students complete units, teachers can use the targeted skill builder lessons to intersect with any skills that were not completely mastered in the lessons. It is important that students are practicing regularly and meeting the recommended usage minutes in order to get the most out of this research-proven, and nationally recognized literacy program.

Lexia is proven to close the literacy gap when used with commitment and fidelity! If you are having trouble setting up or logging into your account, please let Ms. Annie Neahring know.
