Inviting freshmen and sophomores to join the Science Mentorship Program in 2020

Hello Aggie Scientists!

Welcome back to school after Winter break. Hopefully you were able to have a relaxing time and recharge a little before this new semester. Spring semester presents us with so many new opportunities and experiences. It serves as a gateway to summer internships, research, and careers for the students who have arrived at that point. Finding these opportunities can be difficult without some guidance. The Science Mentorship Program is in place to provide exactly this kind of direction for sophomores and freshman.

Science Mentors will share what they have learned during their time at the university and discuss subjects including: which classes to take, professional development opportunities, how to prepare for graduate programs, what resources are available at USU, Campus Recreation, and stress management techniques.

Overall, the program will benefit freshmen and sophomores with direction and counsel from students who were recently in their shoes.

I encourage all freshmen and sophomore students to  join the program’s second cohort  by 11:59 pm on Friday, January 31. Having been a “mentee” in a mentorship program in the past, I can assure you that these experiences provide much-needed direction and encouragement during a critical juncture.

If this interests you,  sign up to be mentored . Feel free to email me at  sciencesenator.ususa@usu.edu  if you have any questions about the program. Have an excellent semester, and Go Aggies!

Sincerely,
Alex Lyons
