BREWSTER DAY CAMP          Newsletter   June 28, 2020        Vol. 39 Issue 9

Dear The Brewster Day Camp Family,

Thank you to the entire Camp Family for your ongoing Courage, Hope, Good Spirit & Peace. Over the last few weeks, we have received an outpouring of support and encouragement from friends and family following our announcement to temporarily shutter BDC for Summer 2020, due to COVID-19. You can read our full announcement here.

Sitting in Boston writing this newsletter sure does feel different. Instead, of greeting smiling campers for their first week at BDC, we are adjusting to the new normal that we must all create for ourselves. The BDC team has had plenty of time to reflect over the last few weeks. We have discussed how different this summer feels, what is important about the work that we do in a normal summer, how we might be able to continue our mission of supporting children and families, and what BDC'20 might look like this summer.

Luckily, as camp people, creative problem-solving is our specialty! We have created ways to support our community by connecting families who are in search of childcare with our staff members on Cape Cod and leveraging our expertise to provide families with resources and engaging activities all summer long.

Have you ever wanted to go to camp with your children? This summer, you can! Each of the next 8 weeks, we will send you resources and content that will be fun and engaging for your entire family. We know that seeing your camp friends is one of the best parts of the summer, so we are working to create opportunities to gather virtually. One of the most exciting things that we are creating this summer is the opportunity to engage in BDC activities with your family and share your experience! See below for more details...

This summer, we will PERSEVERE, by overcoming adversity, to create another incredible BDC summer!

We look forward to sharing all of our Courage, Hope, Good Spirit & Peace...

Share your summer with the BDC Family!

We have created a brand-new video newsletter for BDC'20...starring YOU! Each week, please send us videos of your family completing the activities that we send you or simply incorporating Courage, Hope, Good Spirit & Peace into your lives. With your help, we will create a weekly video newsletter showcasing all of the magic that you, the BDC Family, is enjoying. Here are some instructions:
  1. To capture video on cell phones or iPads, please turn the device horizontally (landscape).
  2. 10 seconds of video is the perfect length.
  3. Your device's microphone is sensitive, so make sure to stand close (under 6 feet) to the person you're filming so that we can hear them.
  4. Capture a few seconds at the beginning and end of the action to allow us to edit the clip.
  5. Please send us the one best video of your activity.
  6. Please send us the video unedited, videos with titles and graphics will not be used.

Have fun filming! When you have a video to send us, upload it directly to our BDC dropbox:

Please call or email with any questions or comments!

By uploading videos, you give BDC permission to use this content for marketing purposes on our website and social medias.
We thank you!

We need your help to start the video-newsletter!

We want to know what campers, parents, staff, and alumni has been up to so far this summer, and we want to share it with the Camp Family!

Please send us 5-15 second videos of the various activities, games, adventures, and much much more that you have been doing over the last few weeks. We will be putting together our very first video-newsletter for you to see next week, and we need your help!
