I’ve attended various in person City Council meetings at a variety of different cities in San Diego. The vast majority of them now being Escondido City Council meetings via live video and I’ve always marveled at the council’s ability to take some very harsh feedback during the open comments portion of the meeting. We can all disagree to disagree but, can we at least keep it civil?
Well, evidently that’s nothing compared to yesterdays County Board of Supervisor’s meeting where things got very, very heated. If you’d like to see it yourself
here is a link to the full meeting. The public comments begin approximately 24 minutes into the meeting and carry on for almost 4 hours.
Thank you to the Escondido Rotary for allowing me to speak yesterday at their monthly meeting. I enjoyed presenting the Greater Escondido Chamber of Commerce’s activity to date and some of our future plans. Great group of leaders in our community.
Please be sure to clear your calendar for next Tuesday's mixer at The Ritz on Grand. It’s shaping up to be a great event and opportunity to meet and greet new people in our business community and check out this beautiful facility. We’re also celebrating our 1st Annual “Best of Escondido Eats” award winners as selected by over 4,000 voters. The evening will kick-off at 4:30 as the Chamber celebrates the ribbon cutting of Manzanita Roasting Company located inside the Ritz. Join us early and congratulations to Sam. We’ll then migrate over to the Ritz as we enjoy drinks and food. A great place to enjoy each other and a beautiful sunset from the rooftop lounge at The Ritz.
Thank you to our sponsors for the Mixer, Escondido Disposal (EDI) and Banner Bank.
And, to top off the week’s activities here at the Chamber join us if you’re hiring or looking for a job or considering a change from your current job at our fourth monthly Job Fair. It will be Thursday the 26th from 9a-2p. Contact the Chamber for more information on this important event.
We have tracked 53 people who have gotten jobs from these Job Fairs and that helps but, there is a growing need to hire more.
The latest issue of your Greater Escondido Magazine is out and if you can’t find a copy contact the Chamber and we’ll make sure you get one. Speaking of the magazine, how about Carol Rogers sharing with the Chamber a customer who contacted her at Stone & Glass referencing their ad in the magazine that he had picked up which motivated him to come in to see their great art, and turning him into a happy customer. For your opportunity to advertise in the next issue please contact the Chamber. Advertising in the magazine works.
The Wonderland Podcast's newest episode will feature current Chamber Board member Corrine Busta. Corrine shared on the podcast her unique and fascinating story of her involvement in North County politics as well as her newest endeavors with One Law Love and Nature Unplugged. The episode will be released shortly, and you can find all of The Wonderland Podcasts HERE.
And finally, please share your thoughts on our weekly poll question by voting. We’re experiencing a very positive response rate to this little tool and the more responses we receive, the better. Share with others to help build on the momentum we’re seeing.
Cheers,
James Rowten (JR)
