MAYOR'S MESSAGE
From Mayor Leonard Desiderio...

April has flown by and May has arrived, which means Memorial Day Weekend will be here before we know it. I hope everyone is looking forward to the approaching warm weather as much as I am – and that you are planning to be in Sea Isle City throughout the summer season. We have a lot of entertainment planned for you this year, including our free Saturday night concerts, “Movies Under the Stars” and “Family Fun Nights” – not to mention the Chamber of Commerce’s weekly Farmer’s Market and Acoustic Open Mic Nights for teens, as well as Sea Isle’s wonderful Beachcomber Guided Tours and a myriad of special events that are on our 2022 calendar. 


CITY COUNCIL'S MESSAGE
From The Members of City Council...

At the start of the April 26 City Council meeting, Mayor Desiderio mentioned this year’s Arbor Day Celebration on April 29, during which thirty-eight new crepe myrtle trees (purchased with funds from the Environmental Commission’s trust account) would be dedicated along JFK Boulevard.

Also on April 26, City Council adopted Ordinance 1681, which is a standard ordinance that is introduced periodically to establish wages, salaries and compensation for City employees not covered under collective bargaining agreements.

COMMUNITY DAY
Don’t miss Sea Isle City’s Community Day Activities on Saturday, May 7

City Council Meeting at 9:00 AM on the third floor of City Hall.

Meet-and-Greet Gathering with City officials and local civic organizations, from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon inside the Community Lodge, where there will also be face painters for the kids and free giveaways. 

Municipal Bicycle Auction at 10:30 AM in the parking lot under City Hall (the location of the Bike Auction has moved from the Community Lodge to City Hall due to weather concerns). Bidders must register on-site. Registration begins at 9:30 AM. Only cash or checks will be accepted (checks are preferred).

Award Ceremony at 11:30 AM inside the Community Lodge, where Mayor Desiderio will honor the recipients of his 2022 “Do the Right Thing” awards.

Community Day Postponements:

Due to a rainy forecast, the following Community Day events have been postponed until a later date...

Free Document Shredding Event, sponsored by First Bank of Sea Isle City, will take place on Saturday, May 21, in the parking lot of the Community Lodge from 9:00 AM to 12 noon. 

Street Dedication in honor of U.S. Navy Seal David M. Tapper will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 11, at 89th Street and Pleasure Avenue.

CITY-WIDE YARD SALE
Attention Bargain Hunters!

The Sea Isle City Chamber of Commerce & Revitalization will host a city-wide yard sale on Saturday, May 7, from 7:00AM to 1:00 PM. The Chamber has compiled a list of properties that are participating in the Yard Sale, and they will make that list available to shoppers prior to the start of the event on their website, www.seaislechamber.com - or you can use the direct link below.


BLOOD DRIVE
Give Blood on June 8

Sea Isle City’s United Methodist Church will host a Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, June 8, from 1:00 to 6:00 PM, inside their Church Hall on JFK Boulevard (between Central Avenue and Park Road). CLICK HERE to make an appointment to donate blood.

According to the Red Cross:
  • Every 2 seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood and or platelets.
  • A single car accident victim can require as many as 100 units of blood.
  • Blood and platelets cannot be manufactured; they can only come from volunteer donors.
  • The blood type most often requested by hospitals is type O.
  • One donation can help save more than one life.

FLOWER SALE
Beautify Your Garden With Colorful Flowers

The Sea Isle City Garden Club will host their 2022 Flower Sale on Saturday and Sunday, May 21 and 22, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day at the Dealy Field Basketball Courts, 6108 Central Avenue, where the public can purchase hanging floral baskets, pots filled with colorful blossoms, herbs, and annuals in flats and 4½ inch nursery pots. Only cash or checks will be accepted. Proceeds from the Flower Sale benefit the Garden Club’s charitable efforts. TREE RAFFLE
Register to Win a Free Tree
Planted on Your Property!

The Sea Isle City Environmental Commission is giving away 30 free trees! The Commission’s annual Tree Raffle is currently underway, and entries are available at the Sea Isle City Welcome Center, 300 JFK Blvd, and online at www.seaislecitynj.us (on the Environmental Commission page). Winners will have their choice of three varieties (free of charge): Limelight Hydrangea (lime green/cream/pink flowers), Crepe Myrtle (pink flowers, July to September), or Little Gem Magnolia (green all year; flowers spring to late fall) – which will be planted on Sea Isle City properties only. Winners will be chosen during a random drawing at the “Green Fair” on Saturday, June 4. One tree maximum will be awarded per winning property. HYDRANT FLUSHING
Minimal Disruptions Expected During
Water System Testing

During the month of May, the Sea Isle City Water Department will be flushing-out the water distribution system through the fire hydrants and exercise water valves throughout town. Semi-annual hydrant flushing is required to ensure that hydrants and the water distribution systems are functioning properly and can provide the proper drinking water quality (thus providing adequate water flow when needed). BULK TRASH CHANGES
The Department of Public Works Has Made a Change to Bulk Trash Collection Schedule

City-Wide Bulk Trash Update: Starting this spring, the City-Wide Bulk Trash Collection Day will be the second Thursday of May (not the fourth Thursday of May, as was the case in past years). Therefore, this spring’s City-Wide Bulk Trash Collection Day will be Thursday, May 12.

Weekly Bulk Trash Update: Effective immediately, Weekly Bulk Trash Collections will take place through the month of April (not through May). Here is the weekly Bulk Trash Collection Schedule (October thru April):
  • 1st to 44th Street = 1st Thursday of each month
  • 45th to 70th Street = 2nd Thursday of the month
  • 71st to 94th Street = 3rd Thursday of the month
  • Brush = 4th Thursday of the month (all streets)
 
Special Note: Please throw-away the old “Mandatory Recycling Laws” magnets that you may have on your refrigerator, because that information is no longer entirely accurate. CLICK HERE to view the magnet to throw-away.


VOLUNTEERS WANTED
Do You Have a Few Hours To Share?

The Sea Isle City Historical Museum is looking for volunteers to assist guests who visit the museum. Hours are flexible. The museum is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
