PNK Candidate Receives Preaching Award
|
|
Kevin Ireland is a Candidate for Ministry under care of the Presbytery of Northern Kansas and just graduated from APTS. We're so excited to share this news!
Chidester Preaching Award is awarded this year to Kevin Ireland, who is graduating from Austin Seminary on May 22, 2022.
The Chidester Preaching Award—which comes with a $5000 stipend—was established in 2010 by the First Presbyterian Church of Malvern, Arkansas, and is given each year to a graduating senior who shows the greatest potential in the area of preaching. The selection is made upon the recommendation of the Seminary’s homiletics faculty. In the selection process, applicants are assessed on (1) potential for preaching and for relating well to ministry contexts, (2) character, (3) demonstrated homiletics proficiency and distinction, (4) vision for ministry, and, in particular, preaching, and (5) commitment to continuing education.
Kevin Ireland is currently a pastoral intern at Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church in Austin, where he creates curricula and leadership for adult study hour and retreats; visits homebound members at long-term care facilities; writes liturgy and preaches regularly in worship.

New in the Resource Center
|
|
We have recently received the A Church Dismantled series of books by Conrad L Kanagy. If you do not yet know about these books, you really should check them out!
"These essays mingle the voice of a prophet, the eye of a sociologist, the heart of a pastor, the wisdom of an educator, and above all the candid confessions of a child of God. Whatever your identities—religious, skeptic, political, racial, gender, class—you will find his essays provocative. His unvarnished honesty and his picturesque language are refreshing. Kanagy invites us to see things in new ways that jolt our spiritual complacency." --Dr. Donald B Kraybill
You can read more about Conrad and the series, register for his webinars, listen to his podcast, HERE
Contact Amanda in the resource center or by email at alittell@pnks.org if you'd like to borrow these books.
