The Hopeful Times of the Community Church
the end of a very funky june, 2020
Worship @ the Gazebo and Farewell to the Hancocks
This Sunday @ 10 am
* * * * *
Please join us this Sunday, June 28 as we celebrate and give thanks for the ministry of Rev. Zachary Hancock. Zach will be preaching, and music will be offered by the Blues Dudes. The service begins @ 10:00 am, and we have a few surprises in store for Zach, Lydia, Frances and Henry. Remember that we need to wear masks in the park, and if you are able please bring your own blanket or chair. Also, since you will be (socially-distanced) able to greet the Hancocks following the service, the drive-by farewell parade scheduled last month for this Saturday has been cancelled. See you Sunday!
Community Church Worship
To Be Held @ the Gazebo
Until Further Notice!!!

Once again our church family seems to be blessed in ways beyond measure. We unfortunately cannot meet at our summer worship home @ the south shelter of Sunrise Beach due to high water levels, limited general accessibility & no handicap access, as well as a limit on the number of people who can gather at the beach.
However, we have been SUPER FORTUNATE to be able to meet @ Lake Bluff's Village Green (aka "The Gazebo" the last three Sundays for worship. We are grateful to the Village of Lake Bluff for making the park available to us. In order to ensure that we are able to continue our worship there, we (a) must wear masks and be socially distanced while in the park and (b) - and this is our rule - leave the park as clean or cleaner than how we found it. Thank you!
Finally, don't forget that some of the businesses and restaurants like Bluffington's are open when our services come to a close - why not stay in town and enjoy some of what Lake Bluff has to offer?

Annual FoodStock Concert Returns Sunday!
* * * * *
Ken Hall and a team of dedicated volunteers are very excited to bring you the 2020 FoodStock Virtual Concert to benefit the
COOL Food Pantry. The concert will become available
Sunday, June 28th at 4:00 PM on the following link:

As in the past, this year’s musicians have all donated their time and talents to entertain everyone.  Music will be provided by a diverse group of talented musicians, including past favorites  Class of 68, Bushwood and many more. Because of the pandemic this year, COOL’s fundraising efforts have been put on hold. And yet, it is the pandemic which is causing an increase in demand on already stressed resources.
Now more than ever, your help is needed to help provide food to our Lake County neighbors and families that have been hit hard by the Covid-19 virus. ALL proceeds will benefit the COOL Food Pantry in Waukegan and the Transitional Housing Program in Lake County.
Donations can be made on our website:

Please join us and tune in on Sunday, June 28 at 4:00 pm. Enjoy all of the great music and help us by donating and making life a little easier for all who have been affected by the pandemic. Stay safe & see you on-line this weekend!

Space in Evanston is a favorite music venue for many. Their "Space - to - Go Concerts" are one way they are helping keep local artists going during Covid times. Nice work! Click HERE for info.
We now have the ability to send people in our church family text messages in the event of an emergency or worship cancellation. For example, if it is certain the weather will make it impossible for us to have worship at the Gazebo, we'd text you prior to the service. If you would like to take part in this service - which will only be used for emergencies or worship cancellation, please send your name and text number to Pam Campbell . Thank you
(Friends - As an FYI we've included the following letter from the devoted folks at El Puente Latino in Waukegan, where we take food weekly and where we recently sent $2500 from donations you've made to our Food DRIVE. For new ministry partners like El Puente Latino, we not only perform basic background checks but also gather information that allows us to better understand the work they are are doing in the community. In fact, we have been told that representatives from El Puente Latino will be joining us for worship this Sunday, in part to say "thank you"
and to say "farewell" to Zach.)
